Raising PH for SLAMing

Hello all.

I just added 120oz of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda to raise the PH so I can SLAM.

I am not exactly quite certain how long to wait to see any results (or even for that matter how much to add).

The PH measurement before adding any of the Washing Soda was the lowest on the scale.. And 3 hours after adding, it's still the lowest on the scale (6.8).

I am trying to get this to level to start with the Bleach.

Any PH below 6.8 will be reported as 6.8 on the standard PH test. So you don't really know just how low your PH actually is. You just need to keep adding washing soda (or borax) in batches until your PH comes up to something a little more reasonable.

After adding washing soda (or borax) you should give the pool one hour, with the pump running, before testing and continuing to adjust if needed.

my TA was measured twice.. 70 yesterday and 60 today.

I figured the ph was much lower than 6.8. The calculator told me to add this much, so that is what I started with.

I'll add some more.

That TA is fine. Keep bringing your pH up. Maybe a bit smaller dose on the next round(s)
