Replacing In Concrete Ladder Anchors

The ladder anchors on my pool deck definitely need to be replaced this year.

I'm going Bronze due to salt, and I know that there is special anchoring concrete to replace what I cut out, but I am unsure about the cut out process itself.

1. Should I cut out a square around the old anchor, or use a core drill to make a circle?

2. How much space should I cut out around the old anchor?

3. Am I right in thinking I need to find some metal after I cut out the old anchor to rebond the new anchor?

Thanks in advance,

Cutting a square may prove problematic. I would use a core drill.

You don't need much space at all around the new anchor.....1/2 in would be easy to work with if you can get a drill bit that size

I believe the bonding wire will be attached to the old anchor. That may be a bear to save enough of it to attach to the new. Others may have an idea.
