Instaling spider gasket- need sealant?

Got a new spider gasket for a hayward "valve(?), and Im not sure if I should cement down with silicone (other?), or just lay flat, then apply a thin coat of lube on top. Advice appreciated!

I just did mine and used some silicone to hold it in place, then lubed the top. The pool store told me to use marine goop to hold it in place. Put it back together and let it sit for 24hrs before using. Wrong or right this is what was recommended to me and it seems fine so far.

Goop is glue! Use silicon lube.
