Does anyone have any experience with repairing a plastic sand filter tank? My tank has a seam that runs from top to bottom and has about a 1/16 inch leak just below flange for the valve. I assume its ABS plastic. Is there a plastic cement that will hold under pressure?
Yes, its a black plastic collar that holds the valve to the tank. the leak in the seam on the curved part of the tank 1/2 inch down from where the valve meets the tank. I just removed the valve for better access.
That may be tough finding a permanent fix because that area constantly flexes as the filter is pressurized or not.
The safest is simply to buy a new filter body and be done with it. Short of that, you can try using some epoxy and it may work fine but that is not a place I would want the filter to blow open.
