Ozone is not approved by the EPA as a primary sanitiser and thus should not be used alone.
The use of ozone in combination with chlorine is not generally recommended in a residential outdoor pool as our experience shows that the combination increases the use of chlorine as compared to chlorine alone.
It would be good if you can add details about your pool as described in this post so that we can help you better.
My pool is 40' x 18', play pool, roughly 40K gal. We've been using salt water until few weeks ago InteliChlor died. Now considering using chlorine tablets and ozone.
We do not recommend the long-term use of chlorine tablets as tablets contain both cyanuric acid (CYA) and chlorine. The chlorine is used up but the CYA accumulates. The problem with this is that as CYA levels increase, you would also need to increase the chlorine proportionally in order to prevent algae.
