So my PPW (pool problem of the Week) is this: yesterday i got home from being out and about, wanting to go for a swim. i noticed some water dripping from around the pressure gauge. meh, nothing to worry about, so i turn on the pump...
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!!! the gauge goes flying out and i'm left with a pretty nice sized waterfall. the nut that holds the pressure gauge in place is broken. said the heck with it and we all went swimming anyways (after closing off the valves).
after calling every pool store within a 50 mile radius and NO ONE having the replacement part or anything similar, I went to Home Depot. Eventually between a mix of O-rings washers and a metal nut from the plumping section, we found pieces that work pretty flawlessly. as in, I put everything into place, and there isn't a single drop coming out of this area. it's sealed. pump is running for a few hours now.
NOW, is there anything I should be concerned about with using a metal piece on the plastic body (esp since I have an SWG)? Could any of this lead to rust or other issues?
