my pump is squealing, it's making a noise like whatever is moves inside is rubbing slightly, or like it might need some lube, does anyone know if it needs lube, or there is a issue? it's working fine though, just making that noise.
That is generally the bearings going bad. You will likely need a new motor for the pump. Post your specs on your current pump and you might get a recommendation for a new motor that might save you some electricity in the long run depending on your current setup.
Might be worth it to do a new posting asking for motor recommendations for your pump. Unless you have a waterfall or something, it seems 1.5hp is waaay overkill for your 8k gallon pool. For comparisons, I had a 1 hp pump for my 20k pool and it worked just fine!
BTW, I used to live in Medford, sure do miss Johnson's Farm.
It's most likely the bearings. An electric motor shop or pool store will be able to repair it. It is too big for your pool so if it's not repairable it's worth looking at smaller models.
We're just trying to help save you a few bucks. That's the only reason I said "if it's not repairable it's worth looking at smaller models". Excuse me for trying to help.
