pump maintenance and rebuild questions???

Hey all

I have a Hayward Power Flo LX 1.5hp pump...I am getting to winterize my pool, and I just put in a new O ring in the lid..and this past season I've notice that my pump just isn't sucking quite like it use to. The motor is still running strong, but the actual waterpump part, is looking pretty rusty and wiggles a bit around the motor housing.

My question is..should I take the actual pump off the motor, and replace it, or can it be rebuilt? I want to do it more for piece of mind than anything..maybe a new impeller inside? Any thoughts or opinions???

You can rebuild it. I'd start by taking it apart and seeing what you may need. Just cleaning it out and tightening some bolts might be all it takes.

thanks for the advice..that's what I'll do...see if it just needs to be cleaned up inside, and relubed and such. Can you tell me how the pump is removed from the motor????

The motor thru-bolts hold the motor to the wet end. You'll need to remove the impeller before the motor will come off.
