The temp has been 89 the past 2 days here. I added water yesterday morning and I noticed this evening it is about 1 inch below where I filled it to yesterday. No backwashing or swimming since. Could this just be evaporation? Thank you.

1 inch in one day is a bunch. 89 just ain't that hot (for Texas anyhow!) Unless you've had a whole lotta wind (or aeration) to aid evaporation, I'd say it's a leak. Bucket test time!
Thanks for the info WoodyP. I just read in pool school how to detect a leak. I have noticed bubbles at the return and have suspected a problem. The dh takes care of the pump, so we will check it out. Thanks again.
