I typically use liquid chlorine but when we are away for an extended period of time, I use the 3" tablets in an inline chlorinator. The prices on this stuff has shot up over the last year. But I see some shopping sites online that have prices that are almost too good to be true. i am skeptical of a scam here.
For example, a site called chaelors.com is advertising "In the Swim" brand, 50# bucket of 3" tablets for $60
If you just google 3" chlorine tablets you will see several sites advertising 40# and 50# buckets for under $100. Has anyone successfully purchased at that price?
At the local pool store, a 25# bucket is $130.

I would stick to known sources. How often do u vacation? A small 5# tub generally lasts me a year of occasional use, no need for a large supply.

If I toss 6 tablets in there, that's 3#. That may get me about a week to maintain my chlorine level.
Got a few vacations planned this summer so I'll want a 25# bucket. They're individually wrapped so it will last a couple of years.

I generally raise to slam level & run a floater while on vacation w/ 3 -4 pucks & they are not fully dissolved when i get back a week later w/ fc above target. My friend gave me his big bucket of tabs because his pool died 😩 I tried to use them to increase my cya here & there but it messed w/ my ph (which normally never changes) & dropped my ta - i had to add baking soda for the 1st time in years!
I think I probably have a lifetime supply now as I use them very sparingly.

Raising to SLAM was not something I had considered. I guess it would give me 4-5 days of extra time before the Cl levels dropped. I'll consider doing that as well.
