Not easily. As you know, the surface is permanently etched from the acid.
It may weather out in time and not be too noticeable...that would be my first thought. I would suggest simply leaving it alone for maybe 6 months or so and then compare it to this current picture. It may be minimized enough you can live with it.
I think Dave is right about it, eventually, aging to be less noticeable. You could hasten the process by raising the water level to the bottom of the 'oops' and brush a mixture of acid onto the exposed area to even out the discolorization. This will put wear on the surface, but its an ~unused area, so no one's really gonna notice the roughness
Again, talk to the PB and see if has a better suggestion.
