The previous owner put epoxy on the wires of the light. When replacing the light noticed the niche is leaking and corroded. How do I replace the niche and get the old light out? Without rebuilding the pool.
Hi Sweets and welcome to TFP! I see you posted this question a few days ago, so figured since no one replied yet we should give this some action. Assuming you haven't already resolved this issue, some more info might help such as:
- Do you know how old the pool is?
- What type of light and/or fixture is it?
- Where in the niche is it leaking?
- Have you confirmed if the wire & power supply are still good?
Here's a video I thought might help you a bit: Leaks in swimming pool plastic light housings1 The PoolLeakAcademy.com 2017 - YouTube.
I'm not in the business of making those type of repairs, but if the niche is corroded to the point it needs to be replaced, you have basically two options: 1 - Dig down outside the pool and replace the entire niche; 2 - cover/seal the light niche from within the pool and have no light from that area.
