How to remove puddling on solid cover

We have 13,500 in ground kidney shaped pool. We closed it for the winter. This year, for the first time, we bought a solid cover instead of a mesh center.
We have a Little Giant pool pump on the cover that turns on and off to remove excess water.
However, puddling occurs in the center of the cover because the auto pump only removes to a certain level. I’m trying to figure out a way to remove the excess water so it doesn’t turn into an ice patch.

My husband Skippy uses a wide garage style push broom to push the water at the cover pump when needed. Or just brush it off and let the rest dry.

I have heard of people putting something like a large ball (?) (to make a tent like shape) under the middle of the cover and having the water run off the sides instead of using the pump. I use a pump just like yours but don't live where it freezes very often so not had a problem.
