Polaris back-up valve on a Legend - OK?

I have been having issues with my Legend's backup valve, and I need a replacement. Is there any reason I can't use a Polaris valve as a replacement? Seems like they are self-contained units that depend just on the water flow and have nothing to do with the cleaner itself.
