I have a Starite heater (Natural Gas)MAX Therm and its been giving me fits for last few weeks. First off, it is definitely NOT a flow issue,it comes on intermittently, some days it works, some days it does not. When it doesn't,the SERVICE HEATER light stays on. When it works the SERVICE SYSTEM comes on briefly then switches to HEATING light, then works like a charm.........Anyone have any suggestions ? I am personally thinking that it may require a new board . Or some "fixing" for the board.

I would start with a good cleaning of the combustion chamber and internals. These heaters specifically are loved by mice. They get inside and make nests and causes the problems you describe.
Also check the wiring harness carefully for mouse damage.
Basically just take it apart and clean everything.
