Sounds like a sand filter. Are you checking the pressure gauge to see when it climbs 20-25%? Backwash it when the pressure rises to clear the filter up.
It is a sand filter but I am using ZeoLite sand instead if regular filter sand, much better filtration like a DE filter, I backwash the filter everyday I never let the filter pressure raise.

Big, big improvement from the previous picture. Much, much clear. Getting very close.
No changes just adding liquid chlorine and sweeping. Now I am going out of town for the weekend for my youngest Son's wedding will see how it is when I get back Sunday night.

That should be fine if you're only gone a couple of days. You could even go up to FC 26 or so and not sweat it.
I'd say there's a good chance that you pass the OCLT right now, even though you still have just a little bit of cloudiness. Just let that pump run and hopefully when you return, the filter will have done its job and cleared the pool up even more.
