I'm installing the heat pump myself whereas I'd have to hire someone to put in the gas heater. That basically evens out the initial expense. I will be using a solar cover and our electricity is cheap.
I'm not sure how much I'll be able to extend the season, but once it's open, we'll be using it every single day, not just on weekends.
