Vacuum Can't Get Past Drain Cover

I believe my drain cover is either too large, or maybe not large enough. I've had this problem for a while, and wanted some opinions.
I have a Hayward vacuum (with it's own set of issues), and it runs/works great. I typically take it into the pool store once/twice a season for new
pads and gears and wings and junk. Anyway- I notice that the vacuum is always getting stuck on my pool drain in the center of the pool. Here are a couple
pictures I just took this morning, and I'm curious if I need a drain cover that's way lower, or maybe one that's a bit taller.

:)Thanks!
