18'x33'x54" Saltwater 8000 AGP on slope with retaining wall (and maybe deck)

Just wanted to start a thread to keep photo progress of our above ground saltwater 8000 build. It is a 18' x 33' x 54" oval and I LOVE the size. We are a family of 5 (kids are 6-10yrs old) and we have plenty of room for us and a few extra friends. We had a slope on our backyard that required us to dig down about 30-35" on one side. We purchased the pool off thepoolfactory.com when they were 33% off and had a local installer put it up. The first big rain we had a moat around the pool so we put in a retaining wall (and are redoing our patio at the same time). I have been very happy with the pool, the quality was better than I expected. We had 3 water trucks fill us up.

Ground is dug (we rented a excavator) and crushed stone is put down.

Re: 18'x33'x54" Saltwater 8000 AGP on slope with retaining wall (and maybe deck)

Start of patio renovation and retaining wall. Our patio was all cracked concrete and needed to be done like 5 years ago.

The concrete was unlike anything the contractor had ever seen. Well over a foot thick. It was pitched towards the house so I think instead of leveling the patio they just left the slope and poured a ton on concrete in to make it level (which it wasn't). We will be putting a garden at the top of the retaining wall with some nice big grasses.

Note to self, cover pool when doing jack-hammering nearby!

Eventually we would like a deck off the porch along the side of the pool so the kids can jump in. They keep trying to jump from the stairs and it is driving me nuts!

Paver patio is getting laid tomorrow!

Looks good! I've been looking at the saltwater 8000, so good to hear you're pleased with it. When did they have the sale? I planned to buy sometime this winter for a spring install. Also, do you have a solar heater? (just looking at your pic and wondering about the thing on the post??) I'm a total newbie too.

If you get it early enough they do 40% off pools then it goes down every few weeks. I think feb is when the sale starts? The thing on the post is the salt water generator. No money for a heater at the moment. Our season is not the longest but the kids will swim in freezing water, lol

Pool gets full sun from 9am till 6pm at least. Has been 78 - 82 consistently.

Ah, okay thanks; I'll start looking in Feb then! Gives me a bit of time to recover from Christmas. LOL I'll just have to decide the shape and size. I'm sure the full sun so early helps with the heating. My back yard doesn't get full sun until around 11:00am and is fairly shaded until then (well, unless I stick the pool way out away from the house), so, although my daughter will swim in cold water, I like it warm, but heaters are so expensive. Keep us updated if you do anything else. Everything looks really good!

Where are the images stored? did you upload them to TFP or put links to an offsite image hosting site? If you linked them from another site the links may be broken and need to be updated.
