Planning a liner replacement in Fall for my 18x24 oval inground pool in Shalimar, FL; within 2 miles of water on Gulf Coast. Pool has dish bottom, with lowest point at 6'. My pool is on slightly elevated deck, a little less than 2 feet above the level of my lawn. I dug down into my yard to check ground water table and encountered water at about 3 feet. So, I believe Ground water level is currently 12-18 inches above lowest point. I am unable to locate any well points from previous liner replacements, therefore I am researching DIY well points in order to temporarily lower ground water table and eliminate possibility of damage to pool bottom during liner replacement (cement/vermiculite I think).
Based on what I've read so far, I think I need PVC, a 6' hole in the yard just off the pool deck, gravel, and a pump.
Am I missing anything here?
Best pump for this very shallow well? (I have a gas powered sump pump on hand that may work, I don't have a submersible pump on hand).
Appreciate any advice.
