Currently, we use wedding cake steps. They're ok, but the kids are older, so I'm looking for something easier to install each year AND that takes up less room in our pool. I want a ladder or steps that attach to our deck. Let me know your recommendations.

My pool was initially built with only 2 ladders (35 years ago when steps for vinyl pools were not common), since adding a set of drop in steps 12 or so years ago (seen with my dog in my avatar) the ladders are almost never used, then only by kids at the deep end who are in a rush to get back around to the diving board.
