Hello everyone!
We live in southern Ohio and have a recently installed pool that I think needs some upgrades.
18 X 36 in-ground Steel wall and vinyl liner ~25,000 gallons
1 skimmer - dedicated 1.5 inch PVC
1 main drain pair - dedicated 1.5 inch PVC
2 returns - dedicated 1.5 inch PVC
In pool seat 4 inlets - dedicated 1.5 inch PVC
Some off brand (avalanche 5000) 2HP single speed motor
Aqua Tools Sand Filter
Aqua Pro Heat Pump - PRO1100
Pentair Intellichlor IC-40
Pool cleaning robot
We run the pool filtration basically 24/7 to allow for a few turnovers a day and to allow for the heat pump to keep the water at 82-84 degrees.
Running 24/7 is probably overkill, but it is how the installer recommended.
We usually only have to run the IC-40 at about 20% or 40% during heavy usage.
Pool is spotless and crystal clear with an easy to maintain water balance.
Motor is now having issues...large increase in motor noise, hot to touch, and some bubbling out the returns.
Looking to upgrade to a variable speed pump.
When I tried to get a rough measure of the suction side piping for TDH...I can up with about a 36ft or so average.
So I was looking for a pump that could do 40-50 gpm at 40ft head and not have to run at 100% all the time like our current single speed.
I am looking at the Hayward Tristar VS pump, but would welcome recommendations.
I have two 1.5 inch suction lines and two 1.5 inch return lines.
Both sets have 2 ball valves and combine down into a 1.5 pipe.
I would like to add two Jandy 3 way 1.5"/2" or 2"/2.5" valves to replace those 4 ball valves.
I would like to add a FlowVis flowmeter.
Additionally, I would like plumbing on the pad upgraded to 2".
Two 1.5" suction line > Jandy valve > New VS pump > Sand Filter > Heat Pump > FlowVis > Intellichlor IC40 > Jandy valve > two 1.5" return lines.
I appreciate any help the experts here can offer.
