My stuff:
Nikon D300 w/ 8G CF card
flash = SB600
Nikkor 12-24 mm ED G zoom -- for the occasional > 90 degrees shots.
Nikkor 18-200 mm ED G VRII zoom -- for pseudo-macro and some general purpose shooting
Nikkor 50mm f1.4 G prime -- low light, or clearer/cleaner picts where the zooms aren't needed.
Sigma 50-500 mm = "The Bigma" -- my main lens.
Manfrotto (bogen) tripod and ball head
Tamerac Messenger 5 case.
All lens have glass UV filters, mostly Heliopan.
I also have a circular polarizer for each filter size, except the 50mm f1.4.
I generally shoot song birds in my yard. I've counted about 39 types of birds. That's why the "bigma". I'm usually at 500mm most of the time, and it isn't always enough. 500mm, Program, on the tripod, 800 ISO, spot or area metering, continuous low at 1 fps, 0 AF delay, continuous focus, large fine jpeg biased to quality.
I've posted on Flickr and Tabblo.
Like Tabblo for posting, but it's search is non-existent.
Flickr organizes the pictures better, and uploads faster, but don't like the control over display, but at least it has a search.
I switched to digital last year after I was disgusted for the last time with terrible film processing.
I passed 10,000 pictures -- a lot of bad ones -- last month (June 2009) before a year was up on the camera.
I dream of the day I can afford the Nikon 400mm F/2.8 VRII.
