Holes in brick for pool cover

Is there a preferred way to drill the holes for an in ground pool cover on a brick patio? Specifically what I'm referring to is whether the holes for the tubes that will be used for the loops for the cover should be drilled in the middle of a brick or on the side edge or corners of a brick. I've heard different viewpoints. Thanks

Loop-loc recommends installing between bricks or pavers when possible. Also, you should be using the anchor in pipe method for anchoring into that type of deck.
