Lots of polymeric sand in the pool

Hi, the pool builder power washed our pavers and put polymeric sand. There is quite a bid of sand in our pool right now and the builder will not be back to clean it up until next week. My kids want to swim in the pool over the weekend so I am wondering if I can clean it up myself. If so, do I simply vacuum the pool via the skimmer? Would it be safe to swim in it (does polymeric sand change the water chemistry)?

I would vacuum it out but I see no problem letting the kids swim. It won't change the chemistry for any pool care concerns that I know of.

Would vacuuming this much sand damage the pool filter (cartridge)?

i would,put a skimmer sock over the skimmer basket so the sand never leaves the skimmer. I would not want polymeric sand in my filter.

Should I use my Polaris 360 with sand silt bag to clean up some of the sand?
