SLAM help & super high phosphates

I’ve got a 14,500 gallon fiberglass pool that is typically salt, but we’ve let to put the generator back on. We just took off the mesh safety cover two days ago and the pool was completely green as expected. I have the recommended testing kit recommended here and found the ph high, so I put...

Pool barely has any FC; Jacuzzi says it is phosphates

I have a Jacuzzi brand SWG that was installed about two years ago. I haven't had any problems maintaining FC levels until about 2 weeks ago, when FC suddenly plummeted to below 1.0 ppm. My salt was low (~3400), with the manual calling for 4000-4500 ideally. So I increased salt to 4200, and...

Phosphate removal without clogging cartridge filter

When using phosphate remover it accumulates on the filter cartridges and even rigorous spraying doesn't remove it. Is there some way to reduce phosphates (aside from draining the pool) that does not have this side effect?

FC tested high then dropped like a rock

Hi, About 60 days into ownership of new 14,300 gal pool, SWG, gunite, pebble tech finish in NE FL. I’ve gotten my chemistry down fairly well…until last week. I have TTK for salt. I was getting 3800 ppm for my salt but had not added any since taking over the pool. I took sample to local store...

Solar Cover Changing Pool Chemistry (Hello from Summer)

Hi There, Introductions: We're a family in NZ with a small vinyl pool since we moved about 5 years ago. Took a while but I had come to an understanding with the pool, the pH tended to go up and Alkalinity tended to go down absent treatment...so adding dry acid and some baking soda every so...

Started the Summer with Algae - now we can’t get rid of a stinky smell in the water!

First time poster here! Background info: we have a 20,000 gallon in the ground pool and have had it working well for 4 summers now. We have a sand filter and a nature 2 cartridge. We have an automatic cover so it’s usually covered unless in use, and it’s used probably every other day. This is...

    Phosphates & wall staining

*Sigh* So I’ve had my new fiberglass pool for about a year. A couple months ago I noticed wall staining ( below the water line). After hours of reading and youtubing and determining it was metal staining, I gave it an ascorbic acid treatment about 2 weeks ago, followed by Jacks Magic Blue...

    Mad about phosphates!

OK, I am a firm follower of the TFP mantra of "phosphates don't matter", so please no lecturing because you'll be preaching to the choir. I had a Jandy Pro Series TruClear Salt System last year. Just recently I noticed it has slowed or stopped producing chlorine. I contacted my installer, who...
