    Polaris 280 problem

Does the tail have the floats on the hose? EDIT: disregard the float comment! They are not on the tail! :hammer:

New booster pump or new cleaner?

If you take pictures of your pump, we can identify the make and model for you. How does your current cleaner do in terms of picking up debris? How often do you use it? Do you have lots of trees around your pool?

Another Polaris 9300xi wheels breaking off

Hey I am really sorry to hear about your Polaris issues! Have you spoken with the company/store you bought it from? I will look into that specific issue and see if Polaris is aware of it. Let me know if I can do anything to help get your unit fixed! I also found this thread from someone with...

    Polaris booster pump

I see. Well that is not an abnormally long time to run your pump. I am a little curious, however, what your chemical levels are...not sure if that has contributed to your problem with the pump. Do you have any way of testing your water?

    Polaris booster pump

Hello Ken, welcome to TFP! I am sorry to hear you have not had the best luck with booster pumps! I will do my best to help identify and troubleshoot your problem! First, a few questions: What cleaner are you using with the PB4-60? How often are you (or were you) running you cleaner and booster...

    Advice on pool cleaner

Well you certainly have many options! If you decide to stick with a suction side cleaner, the Barracuda MX8 does a good job (and is designed for low flow). If you migrate to a pressure side cleaner, then the 280 you mention is extremely popular. As for robotics, I am not familiar with the...

    Polaris Vac Sweep 280 Question

The polaris 280 is a pressure side cleaner, which runs off a booster pump. The suction like you describe was actually made for a different type of cleaner - a suction side cleaner. So in short, no you cannot use your suction line to run the 280. You can either get a 280 and booster pump, or get...

    Polaris 3900

Normally booster pumps are run from some part of your return line. Since there is no check-valve for the Polaris hose, it is completely normal for some water to flow through that line when the main pump is on.

    Polaris 3900

:goodjob: good call :goodjob: Another thing...there is a $200 rebate on the new cleaner. Make sure you cash that in!

    Polaris 3900

Yes, there have actually been quite a few changes to this cleaner since March 2011! If I were you, I would request the item to be changed for the latest model. Changes include: An 8-point mechanical upgrade Removable head float A chain guard has been added to ensure the drive chain is always...

    New polaris robot

I have tested it against several other robotic models (9300, Dolphin DX5) and it did well. The 4 wheel drive was certainly and improvement from the 9300. It still got stuck on the toe-kick (in a fiberglass pool) sometimes, but overall it did a good job cleaning the pool. The DX5 also did well...

    Hose Float Question

It is really a matter of personal preference. I don't think new floats would increase the performance of the unit, but you can purchase the floats individually if you want. This will be cheaper than replacing the entire hose. Is the hose in decent condition? The sku for the hose floats is ED10P

Pentair Prowler 720 Won't Climb Walls

Do you have a toe-kick (small ledge about halfway up the pool wall)? They are common in fiberglass pools, and I have seen some cleaners have difficulty getting above them.

Can Kreepy Krauly be left in pool when shocking?

Hey Larry, I am not certain what would happen to your Kreepy Krauly at shock levels. I don't THINK it would damage the unit, but maybe someone else has a more definitive answer. Another option would be picking up a sump pump and putting that in the deep end (with a hose to she shallow end).

    Solar pool skimmer

In my opinion, this is not necessary. If you are having issues with surface debris, I would recommend tweaking your main drain / skimmer flow rates, and adjust the direction of your return lines (if possible). Intuitively, it would seem that pointing returns upward would move the surface...

Robot getting stuck on main drain...

What type of drain cover do you currently have? A new California-compliant drain cover helps spread out the suction..and typically helps cleaners from getting stuck. You can take a look at covers by DrainSafe or AquaStar.

    Polaris 340 pool cleaner deal

Gotcha. I didn't realize your pool was AG until just now :hammer: so those cleaners I mentioned would be overkill. Silly me..always telling people to add pool stats to their sig box...and then I just overlook it! You can get a good above ground pool cleaner for under $200 for sure!

    Polaris 340 pool cleaner deal

Polaris is a great company, but the 340 has gotten sub-par reviews. That particular model does not tend to last very long, and when parts break, replacement parts are difficult to find. The 340 is the same on the inside as the ATV, and has been discontinued. I would recommend you stick with a...

If the pressure is too high, locate your 3-way diverter valve and move the diverter to reduce the amount of flow back to the head unit.

    Polaris 9100?

Although the 9100 has not been out long enough to know about reliability, the success of the 9300 indicates that it should last a while. There is a lot of info about the 9100 on this thread (including video of it cleaning a vinyl AG pool): may-move-to-robotic-cleaner-from-polaris-t16028.html...

    Aquabot or Swimbot?

The 9300 is certainly a great robot, but you might also want to look at the 9400. It is a little bit more expensive, but the 4 wheel drive helps with walls and turning radius.

    Kreepy Krauly vs?

I suppose I should have said 'wouldn't be ideal' instead of 'wouldn't work.' If a pool is set up for a pressure-side cleaner, then running a suction-side cleaner through the skimmer would not be my first choice.
  27. P

    Kreepy Krauly vs?

Kreepy Krauly is a good brand, and would likely suit your needs. This might seems like a silly question, but are you certain you have a suction side cleaner? What type of cleaner (if any) do you currently use. I would just hate to see you buy a suction side cleaner if it will not work in your...

Which polaris is this model? AND how long do they last?

The 3900 has gotten mixed reviews. It has a larger filter bag and more torque (3 jets vs 2) when compared to the 280, but the 280 consistently gets good feedback. You can also pick up a new 280 for only $80 more than the re-furb of your current unit would cost! Honestly, I think you would be...

    When to replace Polaris tires?

Hey DMAN, I am honestly not exactly sure how the wheels are supposed to feel when turning them, but I can do my best to find out! The drive shaft assembly (sku C86) sells for $22. So in theory, you could replace all your tires (3), the smaller wheel, and the drive shaft for under $50.
