    Thoughts on long run times

I appreciate the discussion. Yeah this guy was referring to keeping the water crystal clear all the time, not so much in regards to chemical levels, even though they are related. I was only using him for a pipe repair, I manage my own pool and I'm perfectly fine with how it looks.... but I...

    Thoughts on long run times

I know TFP's take on how long to run the pool..... basically you can run it for short amount of time as long as things are keeping clean. I had a pool guy over last week to repair something and he was saying to run the VS pump at low speed for practically 24/7 (minus peak electrical hours), and...

Pool ring back with a vengeance

These were my last numbers before adding MA to knock down to 7.2 with a goal of keeping lowering my TA some more. CH is always high in Phoenix, I drained like 2 years ago so I just deal with that part.

Pool ring back with a vengeance

What's weird is that later in the day the line seemed to have mostly disappeared again and it was the same way this morning.

Pool ring back with a vengeance

I cleaned my nasty 5 year old pool ring with a mixture of pool water and some acid (5:1) and the part I did worked well, it went away after a few squirts and light elbow grease, but going back a couple hours later, the ring is back and a brighter white. Pic shows the old ring that I haven't...

    How low can pH go?

I haven't done a hardness test lately but I can guarantee that the water is high in calcium. It always is here in the desert.

    How low can pH go?

What's an acceptable level to have pH for a short amount of time? I'm lowering pH to lower my TA. I'm getting the pH down to between 7.0-7.2 and then raising with both my water feature and salt system. Is it ok that my pool sits at that pH range for a day or so while I let it naturally rise...

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

Thanks for the info. I just got a quote from him for $545. I don't see my budget being able to handle that though. I will probably have to look into the other alternatives

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

Well, I guess I would want to get CH down to a level that is consistent with the levels that pool school states: 250 - 350.

Is the recommendation to drain only a portion of the pool and then fill and retest?

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

Never mind, found pumps that do 50+ gallons per minute..... Definitely not like the one I have!

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

I will have to look into the pumps. I have a pump but it takes about an hour or more to drain my 350 gallon hot tub. I'm guessing that is not the right kind if its that slow? Or is that the speed I'm looking at with draining?

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

Thanks. Where do I find out about the water level? I did a quick google search but didn't see anything.I'm pretty sure my ground doesn't have water anywhere close. There is about a 10 foot drop just past my backyard fence into an open desert preserve area.

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

If I decide drain, can you guys recommend some good threads that talk about how to drain? I haven't been able to find any. I have a sand filter and I'm guessing backwashing isn't what I'm suppose to do for a pool drain. Also, how do I know if there is a certain water level that I shouldn't...

Thanks but I'm referring to the brown stain below the rock on my interior.

What is the cause of my stain

Hi, when my pool was built 3 years ago, I made the mistake of hiring a general contractor who didn't know what they were doing. They built a water feature with natural rock and immediately upon filling the pool after my interior was set, it stained under the rocks. After my pool was started, I...

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

The more I think about it, I should really drain it. Mostly because I think I need to acid wash my pool because of a staining issue during pool construction. Ill prepared rocks from my water feature stained my interior immediately upon pool startup. I still need to research acid washing before...

    HIGH CH! Understanding CSI

Hola. I only started paying attention to my water a few weeks ago. 3 y.o. pool Current Readings: FC 4.5 pH 7.5 TA 90 CYA 50 (currently in the middle of raising it to 70-80) Ch 800 (Tap water 225), scaling present I've played around with the numbers in the pool calculator to see how it...

    Sand in the pool

I actually didn't get a sample because I was busy working on my water feature tonight. I ended up just brushing it all into the drain this time. My thinking now is that this is just all the Crud that comes from my water feature, which needs to be the focus on my pool right now. Basically...

    Sand in the pool

I have not yet. I will grab a sample tonight and check it out. I will try to take a good picture of it because I'm sure I will not know what I am looking out once I get it out.

    Sand in the pool

I brush it to the drain all the time and it just keeps coming back after a few days. I would think the sand filter would pick that up but apparently not.

    Sand in the pool

Hey guys, question on getting the debris out. I have an in-floor system so I don't own any kind of pool vacuuming equipment. What do you suggest for getting it out? I don't really want to spend a ton of money on some equipment to do this. I own a shop vac but I'm not sure if that's suitable...

    Sand in the pool

I always have sand build up in my two dead spots that my in floor doesn't hit. I brush the drain and it goes away, but always comes back after a few days. Should I be vacuuming out this sand? I assumed it would get picked up by my sand filter and I can backwash. Could there be a problem with...
