Help! Diarrhea in above ground pool

It can cause vomiting, but that isn't typical. It usually causes predominantly diarrhea that lasts for 1 to 2 weeks in healthy people. Public pools do have to treat all diarrheal incidents as though they are crypto to be safe but based the info you provided it is not the likely culprit.

Help! Diarrhea in above ground pool

Cryptosporidiosis doesn't typically cause vomiting. It was more likely a virus (norovirus or rotavirus). These viruses are inactivated by regular chlorine levels.

Do I need to run my spa jets daily?

If you don't run the jets regularly the free chlorine in the jet lines will deplete and a biofilm will form which harbors bacteria. There is no need to run for an hour . It should only take a minute or two to get freshly chlorinated water to run through the jets. I dont know that anyone could...

To Cover or not to Cover?

You will definitely get higher combined chlorine levels with the cover on. I find the level comes down pretty quickly when it's open to the sun though

Drain And Fill Vinyl pool? Or do you think I could fix

It is likely too risky to try. Professionals can do it by putting up internal support beams so it doesn't cave in. It depends on the water content in the ground surrounding your pool. I wouldn't risk it. For heavy sediment a pool vacuum should work.

Drain And Fill Vinyl pool? Or do you think I could fix

You can drain safely using the tarp method. I've done it and it worked really well. Get a tarp that's large enough to line your pool and still have some overhang. Lay it on the water. Pump water out from underneath the tarp while filling with a hose on top of the tarp. I used 2 hoses because my...

    New pool owner in Delaware

I've never run a CSI as low as that and I have 0.3ppm copper in my water so I think my heater must be quite susceptible. I've never added a copper containing product to the pool and my water shouldn't have any so I'm fairly certain it is coming from the heater

    New pool owner in Delaware

I am a fellow Leisure Pool owner and have concerns about the recommendations from the company as well. I just had the pool installed last year and I received their new chemistry guidelines. They used to recommend a CH of 350 ppm and have changed that to a very low 80-120 ppm. They recommend...

Mud leaking into pool at top seam between pool shell and deck

I am not an expert on the subject but I was searching for answers to my own issue (rebar severed and rusting in the concrete deck saw cuts) and saw a recommendation to add DAP silicone for concrete and mortar to the expansion joint under the coping to prevent debris from getting in the pool...

Do I need to drain my pool?

I drained with the tarp method and it worked very well. If you do that you won't have to worry about dropping the water level and wrecking your pool. You have to purchase a very large tarp (big enough to completely line the pool like a liner with a few feet extra on each side so it overhangs). I...

Can't get chlorine level to rise. What am i doing wrong?

Try mixing 50/50. If that doesn't work you could try 25 percent pool water to 75 percent tap water. I have seen pools with over 50 ppm chlorine when they aren't being managed properly. Some test strips could bleach out when you're over 10 ppm

Can't get chlorine level to rise. What am i doing wrong?

Your chlorine level could actually be high and bleaching out your test strips making it appear that you have none. While you wait for a test kit, try doing a dilution of your sample with tap water to determine if it is bleaching your strip

The pumps can remove water quite quickly. I intentionally slowed my removal down by attaching it to a garden hose instead of the wide hose it came with because I wanted it to keep pace with my incoming garden hose. This 1 HP pump will remove 6600 gallons per hour...

You would have to roughly balance the incoming and outgoing flow rates. If you get a powerful pump to suck out your water it could be possible. Maybe there are tankers that have draining equipment as well? Alternatively, the tanker could turn the water off and on if the fill gets ahead of the...

The tarp method should not damage your pool as long as you supervise it. I bought a pump to remove the water and put it in the deep end. Then I put a tarp over the pool that was large enough to line the entire pool with extra length to overhang on the deck on each side (my fiberglass pool is 12...

I would drain if I were you. My pool got abused during construction as a stoneslinger shot a good wheelbarrow full of filth in and it sat in the water for 3 weeks before the filtration was up and running. I did the tarp drain method and it worked like a charm. Let me know if you want to know...
