Just getting started with a K-2006 Am I doing this right?

I am surprised your SWCG is working with your salt at 1900ppm. Mine starts complaining around 2300ppm. Are you sure you are not getting a low salt warning?

DOLPHIN Nautilus CC Plus - Worth it?

This is a link to it on Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q8M0NWE/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza I believe you were looking at the Nautilus CC and not the Nautilus CC Plus.

DOLPHIN Nautilus CC Plus - Worth it?

The Nautilus CC Plus actually has a cable over 50' cable and handles my 42' long pool with ease. The OP will have no problem with his 29' x 19' pool. I do agree that it does a poor job of scrubbing the tile line, but it does try. It will climb up the wall and drive along the tile/water line...

    Wish you would’ve done…or not

I am loving our new SWG and currently would not change anything except maybe the steps. We have steps into our pool from the sun ledge but they have no rails. I can see in the future as we get older adding hand rails. It is very important that you build the pool for you. As you read above...

    self-maintenance vs. pool guy

We had free pool service for 3 months as part of our pool build. Though I hated it (i like to be in control), I went with it cringing every time he added chemicals. Luckily that free service is over and now I can maintain the pool the TFP way. BTW... if we wanted to continue service the cost...

Followed PoolMath. ph off the chart. Pool turning green. Help?

I am a little confused with your test results that you are showing. Are you using the TF100 or Taylor test kit? I ask this because you are reporting a pH =9. Neither of those tests will give you results over 8. Also your CYA should be rounded up to the nearest 10 value since the scale is...

New pool - when can we swim?

Oh let's not talk about the yard. All of the things you do not think about when building a pool. I did not realize until construction began that the entire backyard would be destroyed. Now we have a huge dirt pit that has to have sprinklers put in, leveled out better, and sod layed out. The...

New pool - when can we swim?

Ok, Gnar. Looks like I won. We jumped in yesterday, 10 days earlier than anticipated. After we had pool school, our pool company said it was safe to get in as long as the chemicals were at a safe level. It took three days after they told us that until our pH actually reached 7.2. It was way...

New pool - when can we swim?

As always, you are getting some good advice here. These guys will help you out immensely. DO BUY your own test kit. Test strips are unacceptably inaccurate and will just cause you frustration. It was actually nice to see that the people currently starting up the pool actually use the same...

New pool - when can we swim?

GnarBrah, We just got our inground pool put in as well. It sounds like it is exactly like yours, freeform with peebletec. We were told the same thing that we should: Not get in the pool until the dust from the plaster is gone. They quoted a month. (sounds familiar?) Brush the pool twice a...

Expecting a lot of rain from sally

We had over 20" of rain and lots of wind. Got my pool cleaned out of debris, and are adjusting the chemicals now.

Above Ground Pool set, filled, shocked. Now questions :)

You are doing very well. It is nice to see you taking over control of your pool. Once you get everything dialed in, it will get much easier. Everyone seems to have you under control so I will leave them to give you more specifics. To answer your questions: If the Cyanuric Acid test is not...

Too pricey for a Doughboy package?!

Our 27' x 54" pool ran about $5K with a cartridge filter, two speed pump, hard plumbed, and installed. But I do not live in Southern CA either. :)

    R-0870 Powder clumping on scoop

Its a humidity thing. I have to clean my scoop after every test as well. I always take a paper towel, twist it from the corner so that I have a tip on it, use the twisted tip to clean the inside of the scoop. Paper towel is then used to dry testing containers as well. Just stuff it in the...

    Running SWG

Frank, I am also in Florida. Just to emphasize what Jim R. was referring to when he says all pools are different, I run my SWG 24/7 on 20% output giving me a FC=9 fairly consistently. But my SWG is different than yours. My pool is different, my pump is different, and the weather is probably...

    Vacation

I have the CMW Wizard that we use when we go on vacation. The leaves will gather around the sides but there are also slits down in the bottom of the Wizard that allow pool water to flow freely. This also works nice when we have a large group of people with different floats, noodles, etc. It...

Just ordered tf100 XL and spinstir. Where do I begin?

rp, Looks like you have something eating up your chlorine. Keep up with the SLAM and the good work!

How much liquid chlorine do you keep on hand in terms of days?

I keep about 2 weeks on hand. I think this is about the max time I would feel comfortable keeping it since I store mine outside in a box near my pool. With days reaching temperatures near 100 deg, I think keeping it any longer would just degrade it too much to be useful.

General strategy for maintaining FC level (Daily routine?)

My pool has CYA = 60ppm. So my FC range is 7-9ppm. I like to stay within that range so each night I test the pool. For a typical day, the pool is usually at 6ppm which is between the bare minimal and the lowest point in the range. I will then add enough Chlorine to raise my pool to fc = 9ppm...

    I made a pool logger

Russell, I second what everyone above have said. I also really do appreciate all your hard work, and your excellent web app which I use religiously for treating my pool (and now my Jacuzzi). I will continue to use it and send you comments as long as you support it free for all users. I...

    I made a pool logger

Russell, Speaking about new updates, you snuck one in on me that I just found yesterday while doing "what-ifs" with my pool on my laptop with your Poollogger tool. I was using your Quick Calculator function for FC. The Quick Calculator recommended I add 87 oz of bleach to raise my pool FC to...

High CYA, TA, Normal ph and Fc--still have algae

Oh and for full disclosure, I am a USER and BELIEVER of the TFP methodology. I am not a moderator, developer of programs, or affiliated with any of the companies represented here on the forum. All I can tell you are from my experiences. However The moderators here have years of experience...

High CYA, TA, Normal ph and Fc--still have algae

ZD, First off I am assuming you have a test kit like the one from TFTestkits.net: TFTestkits.net If you do not, you need to buy one now! Everything is based on your testing and your use and understanding of the tests from this kit. For the SLAM, you would use the web based Pool Math...

High CYA, TA, Normal ph and Fc--still have algae

ZD, You can raise you FC using liquid Chlorine. You can purchase this at Leslies or Walmart. Anything containing solid chlorine (powdered shock and pucks) contain a stabilizer which basically either adds CH or CYA. Both of these you do NOT need more of in your pool. Only use liquid...

Agreed. I think by NOT having the default set to 1000ppm, you will get lots more questions and concerns than just going ahead and matching PoolMath.

    New Florida Pool Owner

Ramirar, Welcome to the site. I am just down the street from you. I have a two speed pump, low and high. I basically run my pump on low 24/7. The extra cost to us was around $10/month which is negligible. If you only have a single speed pump, you will need to adjust the run time to...

    I made a pool logger

Some of the above suggestions for updates are great! Just so that some of my update requests don't fall off the radar, I still would love (in priority order): 1) Multiple pools - with a Hot tub and Pool, I need to be able to log both. Currently one pool is tracked with this app and the other...
