    Problem with my intellichlor IC40

what is your chlorine percentage set to... if its on 20% then the cell light might only be on for about 12 minutes every hour. Try putting it on 100% to see if the cell light comes on, if it doesnt then something is wrong.

About to decide on SWG - Is Pentair IntelliChlor any good?

I have the IC20 and so far so good, knock on wood. It will be my third season soon. As far as salt corrosion goes... there is high quality stainless steel screws and there is low quality. You will find out quickly which ones you have.

Can I replace the LM2-15 cell for the LM2-24 or LM3-24 cell?

I definately would not replace the cell until you get your pool under control, no algae, proper CYA, pH, FC/CC, and salt PPM numbers. Running with a smaller cell only means it has to generate Chlorine more often, which, in the long run will shorten the life of the cell, but you can always run...

    General SWG questions???

The debate over bleach vs. SWG costs have been a hot topic here. From what can be gathered, based on your cell life and initial cost, electricity and salt, you can expect to pay somewhere around $20-25 per month to use an swg. For bleach, depending on the cost of bleach and size of you pool, you...

    SWG and automatic pool cover

I don't have an auto cover but I put my cover on every night, and I have noticed too in the cooler weather with less usage i have had to move my IC20 from 40% down to 20% to bring my levels down, which were hovering around 7ppm. If you do leave your cover on during the day(s) your chlorine with...

    nature2 inline vs saltwater?

An SWG (salt) system does not replace chlorine, it merely uses salt in the water to produce chlorine. So you still have chlorine in your water but from a different source. The softness you feel is more than likely from the salt in the water... and people report less of the "chlorine smell"...

    Confused

Yes, I second the motion on getting your salt tested. I have an IC-20 and have only had to add 2 bags of salt at the beginning of the season and thats it. My FC has been hanging around 7 and I am running my unit at 20% for 12 hours to try and get it down. If you go to the pool store to get the...

    Superchlorinate or Shock with Bleach

remember to add your CYA in small amounts and restest. You don't want to over do it.

    Superchlorinate or Shock with Bleach

Your numbers look really good. Your FC level is a bit high for your CYA of 40. I have a CYA of 35-40 and keep my FC at 3.0 your CC of .5 is right on the edge of needing to superchlorinate. Chances are that if you don't have a heavy bather load, lots of sun or lots of rain you can get by without...

    SWG Start-up Observations

When I first fired up my IG20 there was a lot of fine white bubbles that came out, almost cloudlike. After a few hours it cleared up. I do see fine bubbles mostly at night in front of the lights where the returns are when the SWG is on, I believe this is normal. Its hard to spot in direct sunlight.

Someone on poolforum had this same problem a few months back, the recalibrating did the trick.

    After 3 weeks.... corrosion!!!

my vote would be for the screws themselves, I have two sets around my colorlogic lights that started rusting about a month after my pool (with SWG) started up. The screws around my skimmer have not rusted yet and it has been about 1 year. Inferior stainless.

Intellichlor IC40 - No Status Lights On

Could it be a blown fuse in your power center? I have the IC20 but have never run into your situation. Maybe your cell is clogged?

8 week old AquaRite - "Inspect Cell"

You lower alk by reducing your pH to around 7.2 and then aerate via bubblers/splashing/deck jets/water falls/kids splashing. Repeat process till your alk is where you want it.

Dumb question, did you try turning the power off to the unit and turning it back on... works for my computer.

    SWG: anything else?

Does the Auto Trol offer that option? For me, adding a little acid every 4-5 days is not too hard. I am not sure how much the autopilot with acid injection is running these days but its probably out of my budget range.

    SWG: anything else?

The basic function of the SWG is generate chlorine nothing else. Most SWG's output chlorine based on a percentage of running time... ie. set it at 50% and it will generate chlorine 30 minutes out of a 60 minute period (I could be wrong on how exactly this works) You will have to test to make...

New to SWG, .... what are the important things to know

Sorry, I should have clarified earlier. It is an Inground pool. Basically think of your above ground pool with steel walls submerged so that the water is below the ground level. It uses a vinyl liner much like an above ground pool. It has a main drain at the bottom of the deep end, one skimmer...

New to SWG, .... what are the important things to know

The only things that are made of metal that come in contact with the pool water (in the pool, not including equipment) is the ladder, the screws that hold in the lights and the skimmer plate, the main drain plate... and the 2 track coping is also made of metal. The pool is an In-ground vinyl.

Threshold for salt taste and potential damage to plants

it my daughter, she loves those emoticons. Ihave two Hayward Colorlogic lights, and the stainless steel screws that surround the light do have rust problems. New to SWG, .... what are the important things to know

I am fairly new to pools too but I can give you a few tips. 1) Many people here will tell you to get a good test kit and test the water yourself. Depending on the pool store, they may either have poor testing equipment or may not know what they are doing. If you have a reputable store in your...

    Non-SWG Salt Pool Alternatives

Sorry, I thought the original question was whether there was an alternative to salt in a non-swg pool. Not an alternate to swg chlorine generation.
