I think the 3" pucks usually weigh 7 or 8 oz. You buy them by the pound, not by the number of pucks you are getting. So, it shouldn't matter if a certain brand of puck weighs more than another brand. Just compare the $/lb. of each brand.

My solar cover doesn't track straight when I wind it up, so I end up with some folds in it. It does seem to wear the cover a little in those areas, but it doesn't ruin the cover. I would try to make the reel work since you got such a good deal on it.
