SwampClean 2015 - opening the pool!

Looks like you about have it whipped. Keep at it. My dad is fighting the same thing. Great levels, cloudy water. Algae outbreak. He just kept at it with LC and it ate it up. I could be way off base here but I have to assume your swamp and cya turning to ammonia is a tough nut to crack...

    dead birds

My wifi usually nets out a half dozen or so overachievers every year. The cat usually sits by the window and cackles at them to warn her to fish them out. Most are still alive. Then he cackles at her for not giving them to him!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    dead birds

Are they babies?? It is that time of year in Illinois when the babies fly the nest, and fours out they can't fly yet!! You should be ok from a sanitation standpoint. Just get them out ASAP. Not a whole lot you can do to keep them out of there as far as I know. It's just gravity. Sent from...

    New Intex dual outlets?

I do not have an intex pool and may be way off base here. If I am please disregard. When you say two returns, I assume you mean that both of those hoses in the picture are used to return water to the pool. "Eyeballs"??? I also must assume that the pump is taking water in ok? If you remove...

    Semi-inground pool flooring question

I am not 100% sure how your pool is supposed to be but there is nothing about what you said that seems right. I would go as high up the ladder as you need to in order to get it fixed. Your liner is going to fail quite prematurely if it is that bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Pool Wall Bowed from Winter.

Looks like frost heave to me. I have a patio and sidewalk that heave every year and every year they settle back down. Give it a while though. It will take some time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

is it too early to open pool in chicago?

I wait until the kids are out of school until I open my pool. Late May?? Otherwise it is just throwing good money out the window. I too have an autocover, but even with it, the high 30's at night will run up a gas bill if you try to keep it warm. I rolled my cover back a few weeks ago and had a...

Liner Leaked 1 Small Hole in Steel Wall by Track

I would patch it with a steel patch. Make sure to smooth out the edges so there are no sharp parts (bondo maybe??). And what about using the foam cove before installing a new liner??? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

is it too early to open pool in chicago?

I am in Peoria and am waiting for another month or so. Weather looks sketchy and my kids are in school for another month. I have rolled back my autocover and ran the robot and it is clean and the levels are great. Just not going to run the pump and heater for a month to have the kids swim...

    Help im freaking out!!

Have you tried to use mineral spirits or lawyer thinner to remove the black paint that he put on there? I may try that before I started trying to match what was there by spraying over it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Semi Inground Pool Package - What do you think about price?

Sounds in the ballpark. We did a 30x22 steel wall/vinyl liner pool with swim out stairs and a similar "package" and it was about $7500 a few years ago. In Illinois. We started with a "sale" for a 22' octagon package for $4000. Added the steps for $1000 and two extra wall panels and bracing etc...

Has anyone ever forgotten to remove their pool thermometer when winterizing?

It got down to the negative single digits (-5?) by us last winter and we are not far from the op. I would just leave it and pick up a new one in the spring. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    The new pool arrives tomorrow

That is the way to go. Or at least pour a half court basketball size so when you move you throw a hoop in and are good to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In cold climates is a pool antifreeze advised?

No doubt, yes. I have an IG, but basically so do you. I blow the lines out which evacuates probably 95% of the water. But then I add about 10 gallons total of antifreeze. Just to sit in the low spots. $3 a gallon x 10 gallons= me sleeping well when it is -50. On your farthest return from the...

    Pool Water Temperature?

85-86 is where my wife keeps the heater. We have an IG with an auto cover. So I generally heat to 85 in spring and auto cover and full sun takes it from there. Till fall when it gets cool again. I generally close soon after kids go back to school. It just never gets used and the wear and tear...

how close can you install an above ground pool to an existing deck?

That would be dictated by local pool/budding code. But if you are going to set your pool up against the deck to use the existing deck as a pool deck I don't see a problem with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New pool build and deck Apex NC

Well you needed 4. Two hots, a neutral and a ground. For my spa and my pool sub-panels I ran a red, black, white and green. All #6 THHN. Ordered on line from witeandcabletogo.com I believe it was. A #6 ground is overkill and a major pita to work with but eh?? 1/2 the price of home centers but...
