Pool water still cloudy after 8 days of SLAMing

If you did not have the air issue before, then 99% of the time, it is something wrong with the new install. Try running a hose over all the suction sources above ground (piping, fittings, valves, etc.). Let the water run for a while to find the source. You can also put shaving creme on these...

    Do I need to SLAM...again???

Okay, then I must have an algae problem that popped up again. No, I do not test during the rain. If I did, I most likely would have dipped down to about 18" below surface anyway. Now you have given me another experiment!

    Do I need to SLAM...again???

Okay, what the heck is going on. I did a SLAM about 4 weeks ago and have been moving along nicely. Let my numbers drift down to around 7-8 ppm FC and all seemed good. We had a bunch of rain, but I was keeping an eye on FC daily and adjusted as necessary. But now I am seeing like a 3 ppm FC...

    Algae - What happened?

T OK, that makes sense. Thanks. I think TA is high based on last test numbers. I tried testing TA during the SLAM and was shocked it turned yellow. Then I remembered the high FC level messes with the test. I have been adding muriatic acid every couple days based on history of adding acid...

    Algae - What happened?

Update. So I have been SLAMing for about 5 days. Cannot pass the OCLT. Losing about 2-3 ppm overnight from 31 to about 28-29. Ran out of chlorine this morning, so I turned on the SWG to help maintain the level until I could buy some more. FC was up around 35 tonight, but I noticed the...

    Same thing as a SLAM?

I found this funny: “Many conventional test kits cannot measure free chlorine concentrations this high. Use chlorine test strips that can measure free chlorine in a range that includes 20–40 ppm (such as those used in the food industry) or make dilutions for use in a standard DPD test kit using...

    Algae - What happened?

Understood. Normally I run the SWG for 18 hours at 40%. This is 3.5 ppm a day per PoolMath. I thought the 100% would give me a boost since at 100% for 18 hours it is 8.7 ppm a day.

    Algae - What happened?

Need a little help here trying to figure out what I did wrong. Please see logs under my profile. I did a SLAM about 2 weeks ago and everything looked okay and steady. SWG was maintaining just fine. Then we had a heavy swim load (like 9 people in the pool). So I cranked up the SWG to 100%...

    SLAM Chlorine test question

You can get a Taylor K-1515 which is just the chlorine FAS-DPD test. It alone is about $30 though. That will only get you chlorine though.

Bleach v corona virus - backup plan?

Not sure if I read through all the posts, but I don’t think I saw anyone mention Ace Hardware. Here where I am in Florida, you can buy it with the little yellow 2 gal bottles. I think you can also bring in a 50 gal barrel and have them fill it. Really brings down the price per gallon.

    Need help fast please

This was a fascinating thread to read. I was not following from the beginning. I read all the posts in one sitting and it was a nail biter watching you go from green to blue. I am fairly new to TFP and my situation was not as extreme as yours. If I wasn't a convert before, this post surely...
