    Calcium Chloride

To answer your question about the calcium chloride, i usually premix in a 5-gal bucket (fill half with pool water) and stir with a paint stick until it is dissolved. It does generate some heat so I use gloves as well. But I find that easier than broadcasting it at the deep end and brushing...

    TFTestkits Taylor k-2006 Refills?

Looking for a full kit refill for my K-2006 and not seeing it on tftestkits.net. Do they not sell refills of the kit anymore, or is it just out of stock at the moment? Also, is TF-100 reagents interchangeable with the k-2006? I see that refill is available. I am just realizing now I was late...

    Disadvantages of high CYA levels

Another thing, albeit minor, is breezing through FC reagents! Mine is 80 this year, granted not terribly high, but that means i am going through 15-22 drops pretty much daily. Just ordered my 2nd refill :censored:

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

Good to know re: acid and CH Thanks! Hopefully I won't see anymore or atleast see less of it in the next days. Will continue to vacuum it out. Curious though, consider me lucky just that it isn't starting to scale? Just strange how it just showed up. Will update if I keep seeing this as an...

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

Fresh set FC: 7 CC: 0 PH: 7.8 TA: 60 CH: 300 CYA: 80 No real change from the OP reading which seems good, hoping ph can be stable there after the MA dump Thinking it's calcium too but the way it looks is strange, though idk if that is normally the way it looks. But like I said earlier, when...

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

Hey All, So went to brush/vacuum pool again and noticed those same spots yesterday and this AM. I was able to catch them in my skimmer sock as i am vaccuuming, turns out it isn't powdery but they look like small, round, ball-type substance. It isn't really brittle. Doesn't look like DE at all &...

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

Nothing came out when I did it, and the powder hasn't returned, so I think could just chalk it up to me putting DE in the skimmer too quick and it Darn out of the returns Thank you!

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

Makes sense regarding the DE, did go a little fast so very well could be it. I'm going out again in about an hour so hopefully the brushing disturbed it enough to not fall to the ground, otherwise i'll try to vaccuum it up. Appreciate the help! The Bookman rant in Jerry's apartment is my go-to...

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

My main drain is plugged actually, so it is not in use. Some of this powder i saw in shallow end too, pretty much in line with the return jet actually, so could be excess DE that escaped the filter, but just odd it would take atleast 5+ hours to show

White Powder at bottom of pool showed up over night

I saw this white powdery substance at the bottom of the pool as i was getting ready to brush, it was not there last night when i was doing an OCLT test. It disappears & puffs up instantly when the brush hits it. I am trying to figure out what it is, two items I did yesterday may have something...

Muriatic Acid - light film on top of water, normal?

LOL @ajw22 yeah I learned my lesson, just gonna use the bottles i buy, only reason why i considered is because i broke the seal of the bottle Either way, it did lower the PH and i was able to scoop out some floating material, also brushed and Vacc'd (and no more MA smell) so i think i dodged a...

Muriatic Acid - light film on top of water, normal?

Thanks @mknauss, might not be the biggest issue. I did pour it very slow, took about a minute for a cup. I blew up on image a bit so maybe can see it better, you are right it is hard to see. Look on the top left, looks like clumped together, and when i break them up can see the yellow/orange...

Muriatic Acid - light film on top of water, normal?

Hey all, Just opened yesterday and everything went well! I am currently trying to lower my PH to 7.5. I've been using the "green" MA from box stores that is 15.725%, but I found an unused bottle in my barn from the previous owner that is about a year old, that is the good stuff, 31.45% 20...

    First test, closing this weekend

Yes, very clear, can see bottom etc, no algae build up or anything, I don't have a heater so water stays pretty cool even when the sun lights it up in the afternoon

    First test, closing this weekend

Thanks for this, I will do it later today and give you you results. In general, is cya that high bad to close? Should I shock still? The water itself is Crystal clear and in the Northeast water will be cold all winter. Just trying to prioritize what I need to do. Thanks again!
