Does anyone else take out filter grids when going on vacation for a few weeks?

Surrounded by farm fields on every side of our property. Also, we use baquacil which apparently is known for filter issues

Does anyone else take out filter grids when going on vacation for a few weeks?

Hi, As sort of a corollary to another thread I posted...does anyone do this? I always remove the grids just for peace of mind to not have to worry about filter pressure increase while away with noone to take care of it. Also, over the years I often experienced rather unpredictable and short...

DE filter cycles are much longer following replastering last summer...is this common?

Hi, I'm suspecting that, since the old plaster was in a pretty deplorable state, every time I brushed or vacuumed I was probably sucking in plaster debris. I am thinking that the plaster was constantly breaking down (also it was a constant battle with algae attacking all the pock-marked and...

Millions of small bubbles coming in at the return jets...how can I fix this?

No....just plain water with DE filter...I'd have to say the situation is better. At least there is no foaming on the surface from the air coming in the jets, but you can visibly see the water flow (air bubbles) shooting in from both return lines...have never seen anything like that before. It...

Millions of small bubbles coming in at the return jets...how can I fix this?

The problem still remains. I didn't notice bubbles last night but the surface of the water is foamy again today. I really believe it is a suction-side problem.

Millions of small bubbles coming in at the return jets...how can I fix this?

Hi Richard, Thanks for the reply. Regarding the air bleed.....that has ALWAYS hissed air whenever I open it. I once asked a pool repairman who did work for me about this and he indicated that I'm too concerned about that little bit of air. I think in my case the air bleed valve gets clogged...

Millions of small bubbles coming in at the return jets...how can I fix this?

Hi, The surface of the pool is all foamy from these air bubbles. I can see them in the pump...and you can actually see the water / air stream blowing into the pool from the return lines. I already have a problem with the water being the wrong color (green) rather than blue, so maybe the two...

    Pump Run Time?

I don't think it's at all necessary to run a pump that long or often. I do 10 hours a day. My pump does 80 gallons per minute, so I figure the whole pool 'turns over' every 3+ hours - more than enough filter time. If I ran my pump 24/7, I'd wind up doing more frequent DE changes / filter...

I need to find out where my underground plumbing is in order to put in new fence post

Great replies and suggestions! My only concern would be to snake around those sharp bends that I believe are in some of the lines. I know the returns divide from one line into two, so perhaps the one that is the straighter run would be the better choice. I will check with my plumber on this one.

I need to find out where my underground plumbing is in order to put in new fence post

Thanks for the replies. I already have a contractor near our area, but thanks for the link. As for digging down to find out where the lines are, I'd really prefer to avoid that, although as you indicated it is certainly the best way to find out! Using the post hole digger is certainly out of...

I need to find out where my underground plumbing is in order to put in new fence post

Hi, The pool was put in 25 years ago and so there is certainly no above-ground evidence remaining such as trenches or depressions, etc. I would imagine when the fence company put up my fence after the pool was built, it was easy for them to see where the lines were by the lack of new grass...
