    Mystery pipe and returns

Stick a garden hose in the opening in the pool and wrap a towel around it to form a seal and see if water comes out the open pipe.

    It's Official I have a Leak

Fixed... Caulked the joint between the skimmer box and tile as well as all the tile grout lines in the opening to the skimmer with simple 100% waterproof silicone white caulk. Been over a week and no water loss.

    It's Official I have a Leak

So it's the Marine Grade sealant I want to use? Cool, I've got some of this on my boat: https://www.amazon.com/3M-05206-Marine-Adhesive-Sealant/dp/B01D893FTW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1523403633&sr=8-3&keywords=marine+grade+silicone+sealant

    It's Official I have a Leak

I decided to pump the pool down so that the skimmer box is dry while re caulking the joints at the tile line. I no longer need a caulk that will cure underwater. One of my buddies mentioned using an RTV Silicone Sealant... Opinions?

    It's Official I have a Leak

Thanks. For the areas that I can get dried out buy lowing the water level can I just use regular 100% Silicone. Will it hold once I raise the water level again?

    It's Official I have a Leak

I see that the caulking at the joint between the skimmer and tile does appear to be old and flaking. I may try this before calling out a pro. What kind of caulk do i need to use?

    It's Official I have a Leak

Started losing a lot of water about a week ago (after first use of the season) so I did the bucket test and confirmed it's not just increased evaporation due to the weather heating up. I shut everything down and let it sit for 3 days and it leaked down to the level of the skimmer and appears to...

FNS Filter use with Salt Water Pool

Hello, my FNS Plus DE filter was leaking a bit at the bottom drain this morning so while I was tightening the plug I noticed the label states "Suitable for Fresh Water Use Only" Has anyone experienced issues with using this model with a Salt Water pool ?

    Sand Filter Pressure

It's the Navigator. 2 years old. I'm going to swap out mine for hers and see if it works ok... just to rule out a cleaner issue.

    Sand Filter Pressure

OK, I'll check the gauge but how could a faulty gauge cause the cleaner to barely move? They both symptoms started at the same time. Remember now, this is not my pool, i have not a lot of baseline when it comes to typical flow etc... but the flow back into the pool seamed pretty strong to me.

    Sand Filter Pressure

The psi of 22 is not the problem but there is a problem somewhere given the last 4 years it ran at 10 psi after being back washed and last week the cleaner stopped working and the filter pressure stopped dropping after a back wash.. The flow to the returns appears to be normal. For all we...

    Sand Filter Pressure

Thanks for the input . Is the Drain Valve the same as the Back Wash valve or is their a valve on the bottom of the tank? I'm sure it will become obvious once I tear into it but to this point I have not investigated much yet..

    Sand Filter Pressure

Called and had her go out and look. Gauge reads Zero with pump off. Is a Chemical cleaning just a gimmick or a valid process? I've never heard of it but I have a DE filter. I think I'll pass on the chemical process and just replace the sand so we know it's fresh. How big of a deal is that...

    Sand Filter Pressure

Hello all, my Mom has a IG pool with a sand filter (triton T100 I believe it is ). Last week her Hayward cleaner stopped moving as well as it use to, so she took it in and they replace the flappers but stated to her that it showed signs of being used with too much suction (not sure if related)...

Leak from bottom of DE filter.

I was unable to find anyone that had a tool to remove the big nut at the bottom of the tank holding the manifold / o-ring assembly I needed to remove, a couple different shops told me it would leak again so due to the age of the unit, I opted to go for a new unit. Installed the new Pentair FNS...

DE Filter Woes...No D.E. in filter?

If it's going back into the pool, there has to be a breach some where in the grids or piping inside the filter. I had this problem once, I could not find a hole but changed out 3 questionable grids and the problem went away. One of them had a hole, I just did not find it. How old are the grids?

DE Filter questions: "blowthrough" and normal pressure?

How old is your gauge ? Are you sure it's accurate? My 48sf DE filter with a 1 hp pump runs about 10psi charged and I backwash at 14-15psi... 20+ would scare me.

Leak from bottom of DE filter.

I know for a fact that the leak is not above the pedestal that the tank sits on so I assume I'll have to strip it down to see if it's a crack in the backwash line or a problem at the connection. I noticed bubbles coming out the return line this morning. I assume the leak is causing them. I...

Leak from bottom of DE filter.

Hi all, I have a Nautilus FNS DE filter and have developed a small leak from the bottom of the filter. I can't see where the leak is coming from but the slab under the plastic base and the dirt for a few inches around the base are damp. I noticed this after I experienced a spike in pressure a...
