Does the main drain appear to be routed through the skimmer? Many are built that way, so you could just plug the port in the skimmer if so....

See the illustrations on page 4 of the manual you attached. It shows the pool waster level, which I believe is marked with a notch on the part of the faceplate perpendicular to the front plate. I noticed if mine gets much below that notch, the pump will have trouble priming.

See if the warranty company will pay out the amount, order the pump and put it in yourself or have a local electrician put it in. I recently had American Home Shield pay me for a heat pump repair so I could get the contractor of my choice to make the repair.

The breaker labeled GFI does not appear to be a GFI breaker- it is probably the breaker for a GFI outlet located in the equipment pad area.
