    Algae on walls

Anyone have an idea what these are? In shallow end of fiberglass pool , single photo is 'it' on a dense netting and almost looks like sand, notice on right side of 'it' seems to be a tail (?) or whatever. And, the group photo. Thanks.

    Algae on walls

since you are still slamming, when you check your FC in the morning, are you doing a Combined Chlorine test right after? Involves 5 drops of 0003 in clear FC result. If it changes from clear back to pink again, still fighting algae. If stays clear, wonder if the chlorine you are adding is still...

    Right a fallen filter

Hayward 200# sand filter became the victim of horseplay on a zero turn mower. Pool pump was working and became one with the earth when side swiped by mower. Took off hoses and waited a few minutes to let water drain from filter. Turned upright and Carefully removed multiport valve. Lateral...

    pH, FC, CYA, green water

So, when I look at a blue, slightly cloudy pool, which is not giving up any green in a backwash, and only end up using 2ppm chlorine a day, it's taking it's good old time.o_O Doing 16ppm for SLAM FC. Have been doing 10ml testing, could I do 5ml to try to save reagents? Thanks for answering about...

    pH, FC, CYA, green water

One more time, got my CYA figured out at 40. SLAM level at 16. Leaves gone, pump working, why is it so slow to clear? Is the cold water impeding chlorine?

    pH, FC, CYA, green water

Thanks for the info. I did work hard to get solidified CYA out of jug. Next AM read CYA 30. Talk a out bad luck being my only luck...vacuumed as much as I thought might be good and was about to lower pH (I use Muratic Acid from the paint aisle) (somehow ramped to over 8) and decided to...

    pH, FC, CYA, green water

OK...added stabiizer last nite. Yeah! Reading 30 this AM FC last nite was 9, this AM still at 9. (SLAM level should be 4-6) CC-0 this morning pH down to 7.5 after adding acid. No change in pH this AM. Pool cloudy blueish tinge to. Is cold water affecting numbers? Don't understand no changes in...

    pH, FC, CYA, green water

Did sloppy job non-closing NC above ground last fall. Peeked under cover and oops! Brownish green. I know what I did wrong, need a little guidance on clean up. Didn't think about all details except need chlorine. Had two gallons of 10% from last fall and dumped them in 19300 gal. Added 2 more...

Can ends of 6' hoses be replaced to shorten length? Have seen screw on ends for vacuum hoses, would they work here?

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

I don't like to use poison either. However, how does one live trap an underground dweller?

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

One problem...would have to catch one to find out if it has a star nose...outside of trapping, the other methods are deterrents, not poisons. Haven't read about other more permanent methods.

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

Thanks for reply. Yes, real moles. I caught one last year, saw ground moving and took shovel and slammed into area. Bingo! But that's a fluke. I have one of these traps and haven't been able to catch anything. I just need to figure out how to block them from doing damage to pool floor.

Rotten, useless critters - mole damage

Live eastern coast NE NC. Have soil that is pretty much sand. Pool installed by previous owner, sand base, lined steel panels, cove padding. By the book. Now, we have been having problems with moles  devastating our yard with their tunnels, even trying to get under liner. Edges under pool...
