20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Edit : Pulled light niche, overflow drain, skimmer wier, and umbrella holder. Maybe some algae, perhaps the worst in the light, all scrubbed and squeaky clean now. Will pull again to keep on them while keeping track of progress

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Update: Hopped in the pool again yesterday to check progress. Looks better but not perfect. Got a few hours of heavy rain last night so no OCLT. Pool looked very good this morning with water clarity going down slightly using stiffer brush. This got me to wondering about pool brush quality and...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Thanks for the replies everyone. As promised an update... Brushed again lightly with stiffer brush last night. Water clarity definitely not TFP clear. Interestingly, I used a regular old nylon brush sideways again, and again there was a cloud in front of the light. So still stuff on the walls...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Quick update : Brushed pool *lightly * with stiffer brush. I remembered that the pro tuff pool pole came with an attachment for a paint roller, or coincidentally a push broom. Ran a light brushing with it and saw a noticeable difference in pool clarity. Still no CC in my testing, but the pool...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Unbelievably there are areas that looked like they had never been brushed. Nothing green and everything is "greyish", but that is all I have ever seen when slamming I am worried about the finish, however, I didn't notice anything while using a plastic push broom I had in the garage. I did...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Funny you mention that. I did that very thing but not sure if it would show... Thus far, no CC and no change to calcium. Hopped back in and continued scrubbing. I know that I may not see any CC at this point, but I am also pretty certain that it's algae, as chlorine consumption was going up and...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Update. Hopped in the pool with snorkel gear brushed by hand with the stiffest brush I could find. Brushed until I noticed the water clarity deteriorated. Going to test the water and see if there is any CC. Can vouch that hand scrubbing a pool is not practical.

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Thank you. I have one on the highest setting. Short of using snorkel gear and manually scrubbing the entire pool by hand, is there a better (stiffer) brush out there?

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Have cleaned there too, but will again. Edit... Got to thinking about brushes after my last post. Grabbed my softest brush 18 inch nylon ( I think). Scrubbed up and down as hard as I could with not much showing in front of the light. I tried to run the brush sideways so the 18 inches scrubs...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

The sheer waterfall has been running continuously (though turned down to just enough to spill over so the return water circulates better). I have not cleaned the umbrella holder since the last slam, however I am due to pull the light and the drains again. The one item I have never considered is...

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Pics as promised. Difficult to use the hose and snap a pic 😂 Think the color of what is coming off the filter is brownish? Grey maybe? Got a decent shot of it though. The table is white and makes it easy to see how much is coming out of the filter.

Can pull it now. Will take about a half hour. Will post picks of before during and after.

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

Filter was cleaned about a week ago. Gauge seems to be accurate. (rests at zero) numbers don't usually hit 25% before I wind up cleaning it on the highest rpm level a clean filter usually sits at 26-27 psi the Guage reads slightly higher, but not at 28 psi yet. Still far less than the 25 % threshold

Yes it is. Any way to get to that with chlorine?

The system? For brushing? Or something else. Think pool info is in signature and the pool math should be visible. Was actually going to edit the post to state this. 😂

20 days into a SLAM still seeing algae?

As the title states I am 20 days into a SLAM. I had previously finished one, after scrubbing EVERYTHING. Passed OCLT. Pool looked great. I noted high chlorine consumption and started another SLAM. Pool looked terrible so I assumed that I stopped my SLAM too soon. Hopped into the pool, donned a...
