Trying to Decide on Hot Tub Filtration

If you are at all like us you likely will find you use the hot tub more often than the pool. We use our hot tub all year and even in the winter doing the quick step through the snow. But using a SWG system in the pool … we have one … necessitates a shower after a swim but we are happy NOT to...

    Automate a Hayward 940

Thanks... yes ... electrolysis will not only activate the salt but electrolyze the water into H and O. Booom ! Thanks for pointing that out. I guess the solution is to use the time built into the pump, reconnect the generators to 110 V and then set it to run only when the pump is running...

    Automate a Hayward 940

My a Autopilot died after 16 years and they have no sales in Canada. just got a Hayward 940 and got it up and producing but there seems to be no way to set on / off times so I’m thinking to use the timer in the Inteliflow pump for times and let the flow switch in the Hayward shut the generation...

    Well water, green to blue

we have pretty high iron in our well. We just put a new liner in the pool but running that much water through the IronMax remover would have taken weeks. I put the hose on to spray and when the pool got full enough to run our solar panels I had the output of that splashing on a 2 x 6 to get...

Could Monopersulfate cause itching skin and bumps.

thanks the new tub has an ozone gen and uv. we have never put anything with silver. I think I'll lay off the MPS for a week or so and if the itching rash continues, I'll do a dump and refill

Could Monopersulfate cause itching skin and bumps.

this is anecdotal, not science but we have a new tub and flushed it with Ahh-some, refilled and started aerating to get TA down, added some CYA and liquid chlorine and tested often then after a few days added on half of the suggested dose of MPS. My forearms and back have been lumping and...

    Solar blanket help

Todd: First I would challenge the PB as to why he thinks a cover will cause cloudy water. I think this is nonsense. The biggest differences will indeed come from keeping the cover on overnight. During the day you may also see a big difference depending on -how many hours of sun are on the...

Pentair Intelliflow - real world numbers

A few weeks ago I put in a new Pentair Intelliflow pump. I connected it through the Auto-pilot chlorinator and it works fine in a simple start / stop set up. It will start up at the last speed programmed when it was shut off. So how much energy does it save. Current draw at lowest speed 0.6...

    Intelliflow pump and Autopilot

Intelliflow installed The Intelliflow pump is dead simple to run from the Autopilot. It retains all the settings when the power is cut / switched off and will return to it's last state when power is switched back on, by the Autopilot of whatever. Everything seems to run as advertised. Quiet...

    Intelliflow pump and Autopilot

I found in the Intelliflo manual "... the pump can be operated in "stand alone" mode, starting and stopping when power is applied and removed. When the drive powers up it will return to the mode and run status that it was in when power was removed. This setup may be appropriate if you need to...

    Intelliflow pump and Autopilot

Thanks Jason Last year I had a 1 1/2 Hp pump on the filter system and a separate 3/4 Hp pump on the solar panels. The filter and panels are almost 100 feet apart so I decided on separate pumps. The flow thru the panels was not enough so this year I reversed the pumps. The panels now work...

    Intelliflow pump and Autopilot

thanks wow it sure costs a lot to save a bit. Almost $1000 for the pump and over $500 more just so it can tell the SWG the pump is on. Power up here only cost 9.2 cents per KW/HR at peak and only 3.4 cents at night when I run the filter and SWG. I may not live long enough to see the payback.

    Intelliflow pump and Autopilot

Sean I have about a 1 year old Autopilot Digital and would like to get some feedback about how to connect this up with the Pentair Intelliflow or Sta-Rite Intellipro vari-speed pumps.

    Soundproofing the pump

sound management If you're really desperate and can throw a few bucks at the problem, there is a product made to isolate the noise of diesel engines on boats. It is a special soft flexible foam sheet that sandwiches a pretty good sized layer of lead. Make a plywood box and fasten the foam...

Swell Addition to TF-100 Test Kit

hosres and test kits I picked up a big plastic syringe at a horse tack shop. easy to read, cheap, and volume ndications right on the tube fill, squeeze out excess to the quantity you want, and squirt into the test kit vial. never misses. get one with a longer narrow tube rather than a short...
