    Not holding chlorine

I think I was spoiled last year by pretty easy maintenance. I just put in stabilizer last night, and I am still at a CYA below 20. The Chlorine/CYA chart does not recommend SLAMMING at that level. Should I just wait until it rises? At least the chlorine level is not 0 today, so it must be...

    Not holding chlorine

I just filled my pool a few days ago. I decided to SLAM it as I had a bit of algae at the end of last season when I put away my pool (9x 18 above ground pool). I had no problems for most of last year; however, this time I can not get it to hold Chlorine. I got absolutely no reading for CYA...

Putting up Above Ground Pool - shock?

I'm currently filling our Intex Above Ground Pool. This is our third year. Just started the TFP method last year. I had a bit of algae at the close of last season, and I was wondering if I should just shock it right away to be sure we're starting clean? I haven't run any numbers yet (still...

    R-0870

I have maybe two spoonfuls left, but still SLAMming. The order probably won't get here before Wednesday. Any suggestions?

    R-0870

I need to buy more r-0870 DPD powder. I ordered online, but need some now to continue my SLAM. Do pool stores generally carry it?

    FC Levels low daily

Dom, you're absolutely right about the pool capacity. It hadn't occurred to me to change that! I did check the % on the bleach, which is correct. The FC this morning is at 16.5 - quite an overnight loss. I'll keep testing to keep the FC up to 16 (using the correct capacity!!) throughout the day.

    FC Levels low daily

So, I'm confused about raising the FC. I had a FC of 4.0 today after no one had been in the pool. I used the calculator to raise it to 16, per the chart. It said to at 86 oz of bleach. I tested two hours later and the FC is 27.5! Is it supposed to go that high?

    FC Levels low daily

Thanks so much! I'll do that tonight. I've had trouble with algae in the past, but it was usually at the end of the season or when it was cloudy and cool. I have had some trouble with cloudiness, but I have been upping the FC at night to 10 when I know we'll have a lot of swimmers. Hopefully...

    FC Levels low daily

I'm not sure if I need to add CYA or what, but my FC levels are low every night. I test every evening after we're finished swimming and then add bleach. My levels get down to 1.5-2.5 generally. It's been a bit cloudy and we've had a lot of kids in the pool, so someone suggested getting it up...

    A bit Cloudy

OK great advice! Will definitely do that. Thanks so much!

    A bit Cloudy

Bugs, hair, you name it. I think the basket wasn't catching everything. Probably need to clean it out regularly.

    A bit Cloudy

Hello from Seattle! We have some hot (for us) weather, which is great for pool swimming! In case my signature didn't work - I have a 9 x 18 Intex pool, about 4800 gal. My numbers have been good, but I'm starting to see a little cloudiness. I use the TF-100 test kit. I had a bunch of boys...

Converting from Kemtek All-In_one Chlorinating Granules to Bleach

I just started using the TF-100 Test Kit. All looks good. However, I just ran out of the chlorine granules and want to use liquid bleach. I've been putting two oz of the granules in each night, but I can't figure out how to do daily maintenance with bleach. What am I missing?
