Drain Bladder w/ compressed air to winterize bottom drain?

Finding the right "contraption" to effectively push air in to the returns lines has brought me to this point. While I know that using the a 6hp shop vac is putting a good amount of air in to my bottom drain, I'm not getting any bubbles from the main drain, even after multiple minutes. Has...

New to the site and checking my knowledge

Please don't place them in the skimmer. The concentrated high acidity can deteriorate your skimmer, pipes, equipment, etc. If you are going to use pucks, please place them at the returns -- use old socks, etc.

What's the grossest thing you've found in your pool?

Here is the CDC's page on what to do when finding dead animals in the water. Usually ok with 2+ ppm of chlorine and water circulation of at least 30 minutes. But they have special sections for calves, lambs and raccoons...

    DE going back into pool

There has to be a leak or gap somewhere. Things to check: every inch of filter, broken or cracked plastic case, rubber seal, etc. You will see DE on most of the filter but not much around where the problem lies as the water (and DE) pushes through the problem area. I know they are tough to...

    CYA...again

Also, unless I'm reading this incorrectly, you are taking your pool samples to the pool store for analysis. If you are, stop! Get yourself a kit testkit from TFTestkits.net (Either the TF-100 or the Taylor K2006). Do the testing yourself. Also, look a diluting the CYA test so that you test...

Believe CYA is high. Hayward DE pumps goes to high pressure after hour

Ran CYA test from other end of the pool at full strength. CYA was at 40. Not sure of the accuracy of the "dot test" ... I mean I can very slightly see the dot at about 50 and it officially disappears at 40. I'll have to do another test to compare the results but it seems as the drain/refill...

Believe CYA is high. Hayward DE pumps goes to high pressure after hour

Believe CYA is high. Hayward DE pumps goes to high pressure after hour

Everyone, thank you for the responses. As I feared, it sounds like I will need to drain a portion of the pool. @Poolnoob.ca, great suggestion with 50/50% solution to figure out an accurate level. CYA ended up being around 140. Went to the dreaded Leslie's to look up if they had CYA regent...

Believe CYA is high. Hayward DE pumps goes to high pressure after hour

Good morning ! Recently moved in to a new house (well, new to me) and it has a pool. Went online to figure out how to take care of it. Think I'm on the right track but think I'm screwed from the previous owner. I've purchased a Taylor 2006 and am trying to use the BBB method. First test the...
