    Hayward H400FDN Not Heating Water

Hello, I have an above ground pool with a Hayward H400FDN natural gas heater. The heater is ~6 years old. Upon opening the pool this year I noticed that the heater was not warming the water as it was years previous. Previously, when the heater was running the jet output in the pool was quite...

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

All the plumbing is 1.5" with the exception of the intake for the SWG cell it is a 1.25". I went through and vacuumed the bottom of the pool again tonigjht, there was a significantly less of the debris since the weekend when I last vacuumed (I attached some pictures). I am going to continue...

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

The filter I did just clean on Monday, first time I had it open since it was installed last year. It was pretty dirty. I will take some pictures today and post. I will also check the piping size, I believe the pool company installed 1.5" piping for plumbing.

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

The current cartridge filter I have doesn't seem to have a vacuum to waste, would that make sense? My last sand filter had that option with a muliport on it. I don't recall any algae bloom but I've had this issue since opening this year, the weather has been pretty blah here so we haven't used...

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

Nothing visible I could see on the filter in terms of tears. I re-seated the filter, will see if that makes any difference. If I brush the debris it does cloud up, it doesn't just move along. Would dead algae be too fine and pass through a filter?

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

Took apart the filter and doesn't look like anything wrong to me. I attached a few pictures for any other opinion.

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

Since I didn't' drain the water in the filter over the winter, could that freezing not have caused some issues to the media?

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

This is my first year with a cartridge filter, so I only opened it once to clean so far. Prior I had a sand filter. When you say larger filter, do you mean the Effective Filtration Area: SQ FT? I was checking the Canadian site I usually buy the pool products (PoolSuppliesCanada), they only...

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

Thanks for the feedback Mark. Agreed on the ColorQ results, I wonder if my reagents are bad. I'll contact the company to get further information. The current filter unit is only a year old, I took it apart for the first time a few days ago to check and clean it. At that time I wasn't really...

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

Hi Mark, Thanks for the response. I realized my initial post was unclear, the water is actually quite clear. I can see the bottom everywhere. I do have debris at the bottom of the pool, looks like dirt. I did go through this past weekend and vacuum all I could see and today I am seeing clumps...

    Difference in Cartridge Filters

Hello, My pool wasn't as clear as it has been in previous years and I believe I broke my cartridge filter over the winter due to me forgetting to drain the filter unit. I took it apart yesterday and many fans look damaged. My current filter is a Starite PLM150, I found the replacement cartridge...

Year Start Up / Dirt or Algae?

I ran the OCLT, results from last night ~10pm: FC - 8.55 tCl - 9.88 I left the pump running but turned off the SWG. Results from this morning ~5:30am: FC - 8.37 tCl - 9.77 From my understanding reading the info that small amount of loss is acceptable and I wouldn't have an algae issue. I...

Year Start Up / Dirt or Algae?

Hi Folks, Hope everyone is doing well in getting their pools started for the year. I got a new pool installed last year, went with a salt water pool with SWG. Cleaned all the debris out of the pool, got the pump running this weekend. Ran my initial test and got the following: FC - 0.31 tCl -...

    Aboveground Pool - Liner Replacement

Hi folks, This site has always been great help to me so I'm hoping I can get some information on this. I am up in Northern Alberta, our above ground pool (33' x 18') liner was damaged from the wildfires and I am looking to get this replaced. We don't have any local companies that specialize in...

    Going on Vacation

Hi Texas, thanks for the quick response. With regards to the tabs, I had purchased a floating duck which takes tabs (before I knew anything about pools), needless to say I have never used it. This may be a dumb question but I would assume if I use this then I can't use the solar cover (No...
