New Raypak 5450 heat pump...worked for a day, now high pressure trip/lockout

Has anyone else had any luck getting this fixed? A buddy of mine just had his 6450 installed and the same thing is happening. He spoke to Raypak and was told 99% of time it's a water flow problem. Thing is, it's happening with his 2 speed pump on both low and high speed. They told him to play...

    Hayward TriStar Flow

Sorry, thought I was subscribed to this thread and didnt' think I received any responses. The pump is the TriStar SP3202VSP. Thanks. Yea I figured the suction side loss is minimal since I only have < 10 feet of pipe with a few 90's. I purchased a vacuum guage and will install it this weekend...

Lower flow rate after hayward upgrade?

Yea I suppose you're right. I always figured pressure was pressure regardless of it being on the suction or discharge side. Thanks

Lower flow rate after hayward upgrade?

I admit this has had my mind boggled the past couple days. A constant speed pump will ride its curve and flow will vary along with system pressure. If THD is reduced ( pump does not care where ) then flow should increase. This is evident when looking at any performance pump curve. Pressure and...

    Bubbles in pool intake problem

When your pump is fully primed and operating for a few hours is there any air in the pump basket?

Lower flow rate after hayward upgrade?

I imagine the gauge on the filter is for pressure and not flow. If this is the case, then it makes sense you would have lower pressure considering the upgrade to larger and rigid pipe.

Lower water level in pump basket running pump at lower RPM's?

I have a TriStar pump and pull air in at 2250 rpm. I have less than 10 feet of suction pipe with a Jandy shut off valve. Not sure where the air could be coming from. I've checked the pump chamber and inlet union o-rings.. both lubed and fitted properly. I currently have the pump programmed to...

    Hayward TriStar Flow

Hey - So new pool equipment installed and trying to figure out why my flow is lower than what's listed in the pump's spec. I have a 30x15 AG pool with the Hayward DE4820 filter and Raypak 6450ti heat pump. 2" plumbing, no street elbows. No air in chamber when pump is priming (3450 rpm). Also...

    Electric sub-panel

Thanks all. Looks like I'll add the ground rods just in case but will not connect them to the bonding wire.

    Electric sub-panel

Perfect; thank you. Out of curiosity, when would a sub-panel be grounded at the panel, or is this never required? Also, since the bonding wire is below the stone and any person in the area would be in contact with the stone only, do you feel burying the wire below the dirt is necessary? From a...

    Electric sub-panel

Hi All- I will be replacing my GFCI with a sub-panel to power my new VS pump and heat pump. Can anyone tell me if the sub-panel requires grounding to rods, similar to your main house panel? The sub-panel will be located in a shed down by the pool. I'm seeing different responses across the web...

    Roger that. Thanks.

    FC dropped drastically over night

Sorry Richard320, not sure I understand. The leaked occurred outside the pool so all the water entered the ground. I just don't know if draining the filter via gravity will result in poorly coated grids. I only had the pump running long enough to add DE before I discovered the leak and shut...

    FC dropped drastically over night

Making progress. 2 ppm loss over night and almost no CC. I had an issue yesterday when cleaning the filter. I hosed off the grids and buttoned everything back together. After adding the DE I discovered a leak at the filter o-ring. After draining and resitting the filter, do I need to add back...

    FC dropped drastically over night

Thanks guys. Should I use straight household bleach? I have a gallon of shock treatment, 12.5% sodium hypochlorite. Looking in the Taylor manual I believe i'll need two gallons of this to get FC up to 20ppm.

    FC dropped drastically over night

Hello- Trying to get my pool balanced and having a little trouble keeping my FC up. 12,000 gal AG pool. Using Taylor 2006 kit (bold represents values measured this morning): PH = 7.8-8.0 (just added some MA to reduce this; was 7.2 Thursday night but apparently added too much ph+ last night)...

Just doing it for my own safety.. figure better be safe than sorry.. even if it doesn't meet code exactly.

    New pool installation

Thanks for the tips. I have a set of stairs going up to a deck on one side of the pool. I could saw cut a trench below them and bury the bond wire there, in addition to burying the loop right next to the slab. I also though about drilling into the side of the slab with copper lugs. Maybe it...

    New pool installation

Hi All - So I had a new 30x15 pool installed earlier this month and I'm in the process of running the electrical for it. Everything should be straightforward except for the bonding wire. The pool is sitting directly adjacent to a poured slab about 18" away from the pool. I know code requires...
