Is there a quick reference cheat sheet floating around?

Perfect.... :) Thank you, nice to have missed it... I will add in a column for remedies...

Is there a quick reference cheat sheet floating around?

Correct, but it seems too easy. I told my wife all she needs to do is add 20 oz of liquid chlorine a day, she told me I needed to go hire a pool guy again. But, pool sparkles! And I don't smell like chlorine every time I get out of it.

Is there a quick reference cheat sheet floating around?

Right, been using pool math, just looking for a 3x5 card that keeps me from walking back and forth from the garage to the pool... I can type it up...

Is there a quick reference cheat sheet floating around?

All: I have found all of the info required to handle pool chemistry, but is there a quick reference floating around? Something like this: FC - between 1 and 4 PPM If low, add... If high, wait it out... pH - between .... you get the point... I can put something together quick enough, but...

    Trusting the pool store!

I fired my pool guy just a few months ago, I started to spend more time in my Vegas vacation home, noticed that when I dropped in the pool guy clearly hadn't been stopping by weekly. (Later on, a lock on the gate confirmed this, despite his certainty that he came to service my pool.) With just...

Some jerk stole my water last night!

Yup, thanks! Been googling since your post, discovered that a) the fountain should be easy; and 2) I need to build an outdoor shower.

PVC screw-in fountain sounds like it would be a quick fix, anyone done this? Have a pic?

    New and Just Starting

CYA shouldn't just drop, but like the card says in the Taylor Test Kit, testing CYA is a bit subjective. Thing about CYA is that once it's in, it's not easy to get out, so better to err on a lower figure until your water is in good shape. Can you post a picture?

Some jerk stole my water last night!

Sure wish it were a little cooler, 94 degrees in the shallow end today. With temps heading to 113 this weekend, guessing it will heat up just a bit more. Maybe I could empty the ice maker into the pool, don't foresee that making much of a difference... Anybody ever tried to cool a pool?

Some jerk stole my water last night!

Oh... sorry, my fault, water is there, just so crystal clear and motionless, pool looks empty... :) Just be happy I didn't post last week when my water went nasty-cloudy within minutes of jumping in. Turned out my goggles fogged up... May just take a water sample to the pool store to see...

You guys all think you're real smart, huh?

Well... if you do, that probably would be pretty accurate. After a couple of months without my pool guy putting in his 5 minutes and two pucks once a week (if he showed up at all), I have managed to put in my own 5 minutes, no pucks, and about two cups of bleach per day. Oh, and I keep the...

    Light Bulbs

Copy all, assuming the Pentair case can handle 400W? And not to cheap out, but the gasket seems to be in good shape - is it standard procedure to replace? You know, what's $15 when you are considering putting your kids into a swimming pool with an old gasket? :)

    Light Bulbs

So I fill my pool, figure out the chemicals, smile, then turn on the pool light. On! Then off... :( Light bulb blew. Secured power, tried to unscrew the stripped out retaining screw, finally got it out, not enough cable to get the light on the deck. Disconnect power, attach a string and...

Nasty Black Pool Inherited from Home Purchase

Is that one of the last batch of Hubble Telescope photos of Mars? You have your work cut out for you. Don't feel too bad though, I put a bid on a home in San Diego, won the bid, by the time escrow closed the real estate agents managed to save water by turning off the sprinklers ($120K of...

    Pentair Rebel

I did it a little differently, didn't want to lose skimmer availability while vacuuming - I plugged the hose into the main suction connector in the pool vice the skimmer, then used the selector valve at the filter to adjust the suction to the vacuum. At first I set the suction a little too...

    Pentair Rebel

Just bought one from NPS, tossed it in the pool, pretty impressed. Price was great, if you buy it before the end of May there is a $100 mail-in rebate. It comes with ten meter-long pieces of hose, as well as a bag full of adapters, eyeball diverters (to ensure your return doesn't push the hose...

Crack the valve, finally ready to fill...

All: Got the pool filled, filled up the filter basin, primed the pump... Shazam! Filter running, vacuumed out the pool, crystal clear new water on a newly-painted pool... I got the word from Jason on how get the $10 off for the TF-100, sent along the support payment and ordered the kit. In...

Crack the valve, finally ready to fill...

All, Thanks for the quick replies, it's a tough balance between the pool store (NPS and Leslies seem to operate identically) asking me to back up a truck for the initial chemical load out, and common sense (the less you put in the better.) The paint was applied simply because the pool had...

Crack the valve, finally ready to fill...

All, As the name entails, I am finished with pool guys (too many stories, bill add-ons, mystery additives...), will start maintaining my pool myself. Last fall I drained my 7,500 gallon pool, acid washed it, replaced jets and painted it. So far so good, the pool looks brand new. I cleaned...
