Keeping above 2.5ppm - algae still forming

I've been SLAMming for about 5 days. The pool looks beautiful, but I'm losing about 10ppm of chlorine between sunrise to sunset. (Usually 25 to 15). So I checked the CYA again and it's 20, not 40. I haven't really had the opportunity to do the OCLT since at 9PM, I'm at the minimum shock...

Keeping above 2.5ppm - algae still forming

Pool owner for three years. After falling into the CYA death spiral, I drained the pool in the winter and refilled. Made the switch to the bleach and have been keeping my FC level above 2.5 for a month. I added a floater with 1" chlorine tablets for a week while I was out of town. Since my...

Advice on continuing SLAM or drain

Hey Matt, I'm kind of in no-man's land between Austin and Round Rock off of 620. Currently draining the pool now, but all the rain has made it somewhat clearer! Can't wait to get this thing cleaned and filled back up! Where are you at?

Advice on continuing SLAM or drain

Thanks everyone. In theory, if you drained half the pool, would the CYA be cut in half? Or because I'm pulling water from the bottom to drain is the math not that simple?

Advice on continuing SLAM or drain

After 2 years of pucks, I'm done. Algae really picked up near the end of this year. Started the SLAM and ordered the TF100. Pool store said CYA was 60. My CYA test says 90-100. Brought CL up to 36 and SLAMmed for 1 week. While the pool looks a little better, I can still brush green algae...

New VSP, enough pressure for chlorinator?

I just replaced the water a year ago in the spring of '14 after the CYA levels were above 100. The FC levels were held above 5 with little effort over the winter of '14. I hope the CYA is still low. I refuse to put any conditioner in the water for this reason. Last year I just did the...

New VSP, enough pressure for chlorinator?

Hello. I just replaced a super noisy single speed pump with a new 1.5hp Hayward SP2300VSP Variable-Speed Pump. It works beautifully. It can push water with no problems at very low speed. My issue is the chlorine level. I don't think I have enough pressure at low speed to get any chlorine...
