Pool is trouble free, but with low TA.

Thanks for the clear explanation Dan and Chem Geek.

Pool is trouble free, but with low TA.

I think that I will just keep an eye on it for now. Can TA fluctuate naturally? The only thing I put in the water is liquid chorine and acid.

Pool is trouble free, but with low TA.

Today's results after yesterday's PH adjustment. FC-4 CC-0 PH-7.5 TA-50 CH-350 CYA-25 This puts my CSI at -.02 according to poolmath. I intend on putting in the poolmath recommended amounts of baking soda and CYA today. Thanks, Joe

Pool is trouble free, but with low TA.

Today's test as follows... FC-5 CC-0 PH-7.9 TA-40 CYA-25 My TA has been low for several weeks now. PH is easy to control though, I put six ounces of acid in every week like clock work. Should I worry about the low TA, I hate to put a bunch of baking soda in when the pool is trouble free. P.S...

Update from a pool newbie using TFP method.

Hello everyone, We purchased our house four months ago with my first pool. When I moved in the CYA was over 175, so I did a drain and refill. Using the advice found here I have spent $25 on chemicals so far, all from the big box store. Everyone who has visited my house comments on how clean...

Only one suction line into the pump?

A water feature makes sense. Unfortunately there is absolutely no space for a slide, or any evidence that any features were removed.

Only one suction line into the pump?

Both returns are working in the pool. I wonder if the PB ran the return lines separately for some reason, then they were tied together at some point. Was that common practice in 1995?

Only one suction line into the pump?

I'm dying to know why that line was capped. The pump motor and plumbing were replaced in 2013 according to the current homeowner.

About to close on a new house. With a pool!

Not quite closed yet, the bank claims this week. I want to sneak over to get a water sample, I'm very excited about taking over my own pool.

Only one suction line into the pump?

I'm not having any issues currently, after seeing everyone elses equipment I'm jealous of all those fancy three way valves. I don't like how I can't isolate the skimmer or main drain. I don't know where I would even start trying to figure out who the PB was.

About to close on a new house. With a pool!

Just a quick update... I returned my K-2006 and bought a TF-100 with speed stir.

Only one suction line into the pump?

I only have one suction line into the pump with no valve. Where do the pipes merge? I did test for suction at the main drain and at the skimmer, both are working.

Where do I drain pool water?

Is pool water safe/legal to pour into my yard? If not... Is a residential plumbing system and city sewer up to the task of accepting the large volume of water a pool pump produces? Thanks, Joe

    Just being curious...

Wow, well said @chem geek. I never thought about how dangerous a cloudy pool can be.

About to close on a new house. With a pool!

We close before the end of the year, hopefully 12/27/14. The pressure gauge on the filter is broken, one of the first things I need to do is replace it.

About to close on a new house. With a pool!

Thanks Joel, I have a feeling I will be ordering that larger bottle of CYA reagent sooner rather then later.

I bought a Taylor K-2006, and some borate test strips in preparation for taking over the pool.

About to close on a new house. With a pool!

Hi everyone, I'm Joe from Central Florida, we are just about to buy a house with our first pool. I have read and re-read the everything in the "pool school," and watched a lot of videos on YouTube. Without this website I would be a pawn of the pool store!
