    New SWCG installation chemistry question

All set to install this thing, haven't done anything to the water but test it. Just got my fancy new, upgraded Pro salt test kit, it took 17 drops to turn the salt test milky red. With 3400ppm do I need to add salt? Manufacturer's range is 1700ppm - 4500ppm, says it stops generating once it's...

    SolarTouch gone haywire

The 3-way actuator has been turning the valve the wrong way - down, across the inlet port, rather than up and opposite the inlet port. It also stops at almost 45* angles, blocking some of the inlet. I've turned off the breaker to reset it several times, it'll work properly for awhile then I see...

FC / CYA ratio WAY off from guidelines

My never-ending SLAM finally ended after several weeks for the 2nd year in a row - or so I thought... It started back in mid-March, with the yellow/green algae. Testing showed low CYA and of course low FC, so I got the CYA up into the low 30's over a coupe few weeks while keeping FC in the...

How unwise is it to dump a bag of cal-hypo powder in the inline feeder?

Will 68% super shock clog it or make it brittle?

    2-speed 110V motor w/timer (B2981T)

I'm looking to upgrade to this unit, but haven't been able to find it with a wet end (I swear I saw one online 4-5 months ago...). I have an old Hayward SP 2805X7 wet end with a single-speed motor with bad bearing, will that fit the B2981T? Thanks! - - - Updated - - - I also have a Sta-Rite...

    Used wrong cylinder

I accidentally used the "other than chlorine" cylinder to test chlorine. Have I ruined that cylinder for other tests, or is it the chlorine test that gets compromised if done in a cylinder that's been used for other tests? The "chlorine only" cylinder has only been used for chlorine tests. Thanks.

    Will SLAMming drop my CYA?

After way too much rain and being in-and-out of town, I had developed a slight yellow issue. Checked yesterday morning, pH was 7.5 and FC was 7 (from a jug dumped in on Saturday, no time for detailed tests then), dumped in a jug and opened the chlorinator (with [4] 3" stabilized tabs in it)...

Another energy efficient pump questions thread...

I need to rebuild or replace this motor, which sounds to me as though its bearings are shot. It's 3-4 years old and I'd like to replace it with a more efficient unit. I've read a bunch of the threads here about efficient pumps and 2-spd vs. variable speed motors and was leaning towards the...

    Hot tub resurrection

A friend has asked me to get their hot tub up and running, apparently the controls and heater worked but at the last startup (over a year ago) the motor is seized. We're planning to replace rather than rebuild the motor for longevity (not having to do this again anytime soon...). The TFP forum...

Ready to SLAM, buit is CYA too low?

I just got my test kit and 4 jugs of chlorine, ready to SLAM for a couple/few days to get rid of algae. Should I bring the CYA up to a certain level before I start? I could still see the dot with the vial full... Thanks, SeaCorey
