    Balacing: CH too low?

Thanks for your reply :) Yes, I find it strange that the CH does not increase, as it should be taking it from the plaster (which is a bad thing, but the main reason for me to actually get the CH up by adding calcium chloride..). Not a bad idea to contact hotels. I'll see if I can ask around...

    Balacing: CH too low?

Hi again guys! So, I thought I should post my results and see if I can get some help here. :) It's not too bad actually, but I do struggle with CH. Anyways, here are the results: pH: 7.6 FC: 4.5 CC: 0 TA: 70 CH: 80 CYA: ~55 So, my pH is still rising, but slower now than before it seems. Need...

    Need input regarding chlorine

Seems like the best long-term solution, indeed. Though, I need short-term input too xD hehe.. So, this is how the pool looks today. Big change, too quick. FC has been at 2-4 all the time. So, I'm afraid to bump CYA too much by slamming with the chlorine I've got. And I cant get any good liquid...

    Need input regarding chlorine

Thanks for all the answers :) Here are my reply to your comments: -Normal household bleach would require me to buy 42 liters... Just to bump the FC up to 16-17 once. And I would need even more to keep it at this level for a couple days. (And I'm not sure if they added stuff to their "normal"...

    Need input regarding chlorine

Any other way of reducing the CYA level? Other than draining? As I've understood it, down here they just put in PAC from time to time to clear it all up. Needless to say, this is a lot of cleaning work, and does not kill all algea or bacteria. It's a wonder they keep doing this over and over...

    Need input regarding chlorine

Testing chlorine now. Takes a day or two maybe. Though, as my CH is the same, but CYA is higher, it seems I might have dichlor/trichlor. Which is too bad. How can I SLAM my pool with that? They dont know any other forms of chlorine down here... :S

EDIT: Heres the image of the pool. Also, I'll test my chlorine now to see what I got.

    Need input regarding chlorine

Hi again! I did a SLAM about 2 weeks ago. And the pool cleared up perfectly. Though, I had some issues. I wanted to use Bleach, so bought about 25 Liters of 12%. Or thats what I thought it was. Had to add it all to the pool, and still FC was only at about 3.5ppm... So, I had to add chlorine...

    Sodium Hipo ?

Most likely old. =/ So not buying more of that. Looks like I'm gonna use granule chlorine. :) I did manage to get the pool to shock level. 12ppm and above. Not easy to measure loss overnight, as the granule is somewhat slow-dissolving. This morning, I had no loss from yesterday evening. Though...

    Sodium Hipo ?

EDIT: One question. I dont want to use up all the fas-dpd chemicals in my kit. Can I take a water sample to 25ml mark, add fresh spring water to 50ml mark, mix, and then drain so I am left with 10ml in the tube. Instead of the normal 0.5ppm/drop, I should now have 1ppm per drop? Because in...

    Sodium Hipo ?

Hey, thanks for your answer. Will do this test when I get time, as it would be interesting to know =) Either way, I do need both CH and CYA, so whatever my chlorine is, it's good so far. :) Did another CH and CYA test today. CH = 80, CYA = 20 maybe. The tube is full and I can still barely see...

Sorry, the deep end is only 185cm, not 220... Still deep enough, as I'm only 175 :) hehe (more than enough to dive and have fun). Thanks mate :) I'll keep you guys posted when we get to do more on it. Lots of other work to do here too.. :) :P AHh, leaving Bali wont be easy ;) hehe.. Though, as...

    Sodium Hipo ?

Just tested it. No chlorine in it. And it smells and smokes just as the HCL. So I guess I got 2 big containers of HCL.. Oh well :P On the positive, the lable says they do sell sodium hypo 12% (which is the good kind of chlorine to use, right?) What should the price per liter be? If I buy like...

    Sodium Hipo ?

Thanks :) The 25 liter container has a sticker on it saying "Sodium Hipo 12%", which is bleach. but that can be an old sticker. when i open the lit it comes some smoke out. same as the HCL. smells the same to. i only tested it in an oto test. can i test it in my fas-dpd test? or will it be to...

    Sodium Hipo ?

Hi guys, Starting with a quick question.. As I currently stay in Indonesia, and nobody here knows English, it makes this pool care a whole lot more difficult :P hehe.. Nothing is labeled here. So I thought someone here might be able to help me. I wanted to get a little stock, so this is what I...

    Stian here, from Bali :)

EDIT: Why did my image show up twice? Sorry.. - - - Let me just point out that we're still building the house, so the pool is not done yet. :) There will be a tropical poolhouse (with pizza oven and bbq and such) to the left in this picture, with 2 small bridges going over to the small island...

    Stian here, from Bali :)

Hey guys! Just registered here. Never had a pool before, but I've been reading up on pool chemistry quite a lot these past few weeks. But this looks like a great forum to get some good answers. My biggest problem, as I'm located in Bali, is that nobody know anything here. Poolshops and...
